1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille Description
WHY THIS VEHICLE? Amazing! This 1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille transports you to a different era when Personal Luxury Coupes were all the rage, and Cadillac ruled the roost. 1977 was Cadillac's 75th anniversary, which they celebrated with an all-new design - the last of the classic, rear-wheel-drive Coupe DeVilles. Most have been lost to time and rot, but the loving care lavished on this Coupe is immediately apparent. All electrics work, the paint gleams, the vinyl roof is complete, the opera lights shine, and the Vintage Green leather is ready to cradle you in traditional American comfort. Paperwork includes maintenance history for the last decade and original sales receipt. With few survivors, this Coupe DeVille is a special find! HISTORY This Cadillac was sold new in August 1977 through an NJ Cadillac dealership. It was taken to Arizona by the original owners when they retired a year later. It was traded at a GMC/Buick/Pontiac dealership and was purchased by the second owner who brought it back to the east coast to enjoy as a collector vehicle. He drove this Coupe DeVille sparingly while still providing excellent maintenance with his local family mechanic. He recently traded it in to AlphaCars with another lovely Cadillac toward a late model S-Class. CONDITION This Coupe Deville amazes all with its exceptional condition. The Vintage Green paint Chrome is bright and clean. The massive amount of chrome is free of pitting; trim badges, wheel covers, mirrors, and shine brightly and line up perfectly. The pinstriping is crisp, like new. We have noted some cosmetic paintwork to the left front fender, which was blended into the car's left side during the first owner's tenure. The work is nearly impossible to catch and matches beautifully. All panels are straight, and all panels show factory-correct gaps. The landau roof vinyl fits tightly, with clean stitching and straight trim. The color is uniform, and there are no rips, tears, or scratches. There is no rust. Rocker panels, fender bottoms, door bottoms, and quarter panels are original. All lights work, including the opera lights and hood-mounted indicator repeaters. Underhood is impressive. No rust. Plastic reservoirs are clear and uncracked. You can still see factory anodization on the carburetor. All body panel and trim hardware are untouched, keeping with the accident-free history. The coil, distributor, and plug wires have been replaced, and wires routed correctly. All hoses are soft and pliable, and there are no leaks of any kind. Underneath is a similar story, with factory hardware throughout untouched. There are no oil, radiator, or transmission leaks. All numbers match. The factory Y-pipe, catalytic convertor, and bracket are factory original. The frame is straight and clean, and the floorboards are fantastic, with no rust. All suspension components, tie-rods, and the idler arm are tight. The original brake and fuel lines are in fantastic condition. The cross member is solid. All fittings to trim and bumpers show no wrench marks and are exactly as they were when they left the factory. The bumper energy absorbers have never moved, meaning no one has even so much as tapped a bumper. The fuel tank is clean and solid. We have installed a brand new tailpipe. There is some light surface rust on some surfaces, but nothing to compromise any system or component. Wheel wells are clean and rust-free, as are all lower body panels, and the original pinch welds are visible. We have gone an extra step, adding an underbody treatment to displace any moisture, repel future moisture contact, and stop the advancement of any corrosion. The interior delights with high-quality leather & carpets. The door cards are in fantastic condition; all chrome and panels are tight and clean; the door light lenses are intact & clear. The door pulls are tight, and the door panel controls all work perfectly. All other interior electronics work, including gauges, radio, automatic climate control...even the clock! The A/C has been upgraded to modern R-134. There are no strange odors in the cabin. Aside from a small crack in the dash pad and another on the steering wheel horn button trim, all trim is just as it left the factory. Leather seating surfaces are impeccable, with slight wear only on the driver seat left bolster. Seating foam is plush yet firm and supportive. The headliner is in excellent condition, with no stains and only a small area of easily repairable sagging toward the rear seat. We encourage you to review the in-depth videos detailing the exterior, interior, engine, underbody, and driving conditions. DRIVING EXPERIENCE: Step back in time! It starts by opening the long door, which is heavy but glides easily on its hinges and shuts with a solid thunk. The key goes into the ignition easily, which is tight and twists easily. The 7.0 liter V-8 starts immediately and idles like a fuel-injected motor. The transmission shifts easily into gear without any clunks or shudders. Pulling away reveals immediate acceleration, no hesitation, and butter-smooth shifts. Dipping into the throttle deeper gives a solid downshift and strong, linear power. The steering is light and responsive to the touch. There is no slack, and the Coupe DeVille changes direction accurately. The suspension gives a pillow smooth ride over all road surfaces. There are no noises from the suspension, and the cabin is quiet. Brakes are strong, well balanced, and the car tracks straight under both acceleration and braking. The entire driving experience is a like-new car; incredible considering it is over 40 years old. COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTION & SERVICE STATUS: We performed a comprehensive vehicle inspection.
