I purchased this 1959 M & M Futura Cadillac hearse in 1987 from a small funeral home in Hodgenville, Kentucky called Brownfield Funeral Home. I have owned it ever since. After I got it I drove it for a short while but due to having several other vehicles the insurance was killing me so I drove it to a spot on my land where it sat for the next 18 years! I'd always hoped to restore it, but I've finally reconciled myself to the fact that I'm not going to do it...SO I am now passing this very rare car on to someone who will actually do the work!
This car is in original complete condition. Nothing has been added nor taken away. Replacing the interior will be fairly easy since it is all still there (although in BAD condition). You will be able to see the original fabrics that were used (even the curtains!) and use the old pieces for the patterns.
The floor boards in the front are pretty much gone, but the body is sound.
The 4 original hubcaps ARE THERE although not shown in the photographs or video. All doors and the hood open and close easily. All electric parts worked when the car was parked, and the breather was in place the entire time. (By the way, the car was not manufactured with a/c. There is no place in the firewall for an air conditioning system.)
There is minor sheet metal rust and in some spots is does go through, mainly at the bottoms of some of the doors and the driver compartment.
ALL hinges are tight and in good shape.
Engine is stuck but should run with a little work as it ran very well when parked. The car rolls very well which we discovered when we needed to move it down a steep hill a couple of weeks ago!!
Have papers. Have keys. Horn ring is in one piece; not broken.
There is a small crack in the windshield and 2 of the flat glasses have large cracks. (NOTE: 59 Limo also available which is ready for restoration OR if using for parts, has a good windshield. The limo engine was rebuilt back in the day and also ran well when parked.)
