1986 Chevrolet C-10 Description

I bought this truck 17 months ago from a farmer 100+ MILES south of st. LouisMissouri. I BOUGHT IT TO PULL MY RV TRAILER. I WAS MISTAKEN TO THINK I COULD DO THAT. THE RV PEOPLE TOLD ME IT WAS TOO LIGHT FOR THAT TASK. I BOUGHT A DESIEL TO PULL THE TRAILER AND HAVE JUST KEPT THIS CHEVY FOR FUN ANDSHOWING AT CAR SHOWS. IT REALLY TURNS HEADS BECAUSE IT IS SO NICE AND ORIGINAL AND NOT RESTORED. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER SEEN A SNOW FLAKE OR SALT SLUSH. IT WAS OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER IN VERY RURAL SOUTHERN MO.,,,ITS WHOLE LIFE FOR 29 YEARS TILL I BOUGHT IT 17 MONTHS AGO. I TOOK VERY CLEAR PICTURES OF THE TITLE BEFORE I TRANSFERRED IT TO MYSELF AND MY WIFE. THE PREVIOUS OR ORIGINAL OWNER WAS VERY MUCH AINTROVERT WHO HATED TO GO TO TOWN FOR ANYTHING. HIS SISTER-IN-LAW TOLD ME SHE CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER FOR HIM IN 86 AND SHE TOLD THEM TO BRING OUT A NICE DELUXE LOOKING TRUCK. THEY DID IN FACT BRING THIS ONE AND HE BOUGHT IT. 29 YEARS LATER SHE WENT THROUGH THE SAME THING FOR HIM AND HE BOUGHT ANOTHER TRUCK. HE WAS GOING TO CONTINUE TO STORE THIS IN HIS GARAGE,,,BUT AFTER A WHILE HE DECIDED TO SELL IT. THE PAINT IS GENERALY STILL VERY FRESH LOOKING AND THE INTERIOR IS NOT FADED OR RIPPED. THE VINYL DASH IS UNFADED AND NOT CRACKED,,,WHICH IS REALLY RARE. THEUNDERCARRIAGE WELDED AND BOLTED INTERSECTIONS ARE UNFAZED BY THE YEARS AND STILL SHOW UNFAILING INTEGRITY. THE FARMER WAS A STICKLER ABOUT BLOWING OUT THE DRAIN OR VENT HOLES IN THE FENDER WELLS,,,SO THEY LOOK LIKE NEW EXCEPT THEY ARE NOT SHINNY BLACK. WITH INTENTIONS TO PULL A TRAILER,,,I HAD A NEAT LITTLE RPM GAUGE INSTALLED BECAUSE I WANTED TO KEEP TRACK OF THE RPMS. I CAN TELL YOU THAT AT 55MPH ITS TURNING 1500 RPMS. AT 65 IT IS 1600 RPMS. I HAD NEW SHOCKS,,,TIRES,,,CRUISE REPAIR,,,A/C OVER HAUL,,,AND A COMPLETE REBUILD OF THE 4 BRL CARB WHEN I GOT IT. RECENTLY I HAD THE ROCKERARM GASKETS REPLACED,,AND THE MECHANIC SAID THEY LOOKED LIKE THE ORIGINALS. I HAVE MANY MORE PICTURES THAT I CAN MAKE AVAILABLE TO YOU THROUGH EMAIL. IHAD A VERY REPUTABLE BODY MAN SAND OFF THE FINISH JUST ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL AND WE FOUND SOME SMALL PITTED RUST HOLES. HE CUT IT OUT IN A GENEROUS PATTERN AND WIRE WELDED IN A PIECE,,FINISHED IT OFF WITH LEAD AND WAS ABLE TO BLEND THE PAINT REAL NICE BECAUSE OF HOW FRESH THE PAINT STILL IS ON THIS TRUCK. I HAD HIM SAND OFF THE SAME PLACE ON THE OTHER SIDE BUT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM THERE. HE DID THE SAME NICE JOB OF BLENDING THE PAINT ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL. I ALSO HAD HIM SAND AWAY THE SAND AND GRAVEL PITS BEHIND THE REAR WHEEL WELLS AND UNDER THE CHROME AND REFINISH THOSE AREAS. I AM 72 YEARS OLD AND AM PICKY AND FINICKY ABOUT MY VEHICLES. THIS IS A REAL NICE VEHICLE. THIS TRUCK DRIVES SMOOTH AND REASONABLY POWERFULL,,,STEADY AND DEPENDABLE. I BELIEVE ONE COULD CLIMB INTO IT AND DRIVE ANYWHERE WITH JUST GAS EXPENSES. I AM KEN AMUNDSON,,,BENSON,MN.,,,1 320 808 1783 FOR ANY QUESTIONS. I AM A WELL KNOWN AND RESPECTED VIOLIN BUILDER AND RESTORER (LUTHIER) AND PAY A LOT OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL. (NOT SO GOOD AT TYPING) THANK YOU FOR READING THIS AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TRUCK SEARCH.
