1964 Chevrolet Corvair Spyder Description

Here's a nice 4 speed Turbo Corvair “barn find”. The car is solid rust free car, with an original floor, trunk pan, and battery box. At one point a prior owner gave it a new black interior and a torch red paint job, adding a custom rear cooling grille and removing the front CORVAIR lettering. It was also upgraded to an alternator. The engine starts right up and runs out well. Tires have lots of tread, and the top was new last year. This convertible was equipped with the manual top, so there are no troublesome hydraulics to deal with. The engine was recently done with new forged pistons and rings, rebuilt carb, and new exhaust crossover.

The car runs, shifts, steers, and brakes as it should. This is a 52 year old car, however, and I cannot make any guarantees, and there are a few things needing attention listed in the condition section. I tried to list everything I know of but there may be something I forgot or am not aware of.
Only 2% of Corvairs produced were Turbos, and Haggerty values them accordingly. The advantage of a '64 is the upgraded engine displacement, and transverse leaf spring rear suspension. Plus it is the last year of solid body structure of the older body style. Without a whole lot of work this could be a show car, and Corvair parts are readily available through Clark’s and other resellers.

This is an affordable, sporty, mid-sixties 4 speed performance convertible.
