With "jet smooth" lines, evident with theaircraft inspired side trim. Chevrolet changed much of the bodylines from the more wilder '59's. The new look for 1960 suited the glamorous top of the line Impala,as Chevrolet reshaped and separated the "bat wing" tail fins, and added 3 round tail lamps to the rear. Additional features included a short molding strip extending back from the headlights, twin pairs of bar molding above and below the fender strip, the quarter panel missile ornaments had 2 moldings streaking rearward, and the area between them was filled with a white insert and Impala script.
The 1960 Chevrolet Impala also became the best-selling automobile in the US, and continued to holdthat position for the next decade. Luxury leader of the low price field for 1960s standards.
