1990 Chevrolet Suburban Description

Up for sale is my 1990 Chevy Suburban 2500 (3/4 ton) 4WD. Engine is the 350 TBI, 3-speed Turbo 400 transmission, shift-on-the-fly transfer case. 177Kmiles. New plugs, wires, and air filter; the oil change is recent, too. The truck starts up on the first twist of the key and still has strong power. I'm just running out of time to give this truck the loving TLC it needs. She's astrong truck and would make a great hunting vehicle or an easy restoration/resto-mod vehicle. It's the old square body truck which are very popular in the aftermarket so parts are a snap to find. As with a truck this old there are some good and bad points...here they are:
The Good
--Solid rust free body, almost unheard of for these square body GM trucks. It spent most of its life as a southern California vehicle until I picked it up 2 years ago in Amarillo, TX.
--All the major items work....it runs, stops, and turns. All lights work as advertised, 4WD works like it's supposed to.
--About 98% complete...the only thing missing from what I can tell is the luggage rack. It was missing when I bought it, just never felt the need to replace it.
--It's an old school straight axle leaf spring truck, meaning it rides like a truck is supposed to ride!
The Bad
--Some of the luxury items don't work...A/C front and rear, cruisecontrolare inop. The rear passenger windows work but are slow and can hang up. The front passenger window goes down about half way then jumps off the track. The driver's window does work, so that's a plus.
--It is a 26 year old GM vehicle...meaning it does have the normal headliner sag that all vehicles are known for. The interior has the normal wear/tear you'd expect for a vehicle this age.
--The clear coat is peeling...bad. And in some spots it just doesn't exist. Whoever applied it did not know what they were doing.
--The windshield does have some rock chips in it, no spider cracks though.
--There is an issue with the idle I haven't been able to isolate. When the truck is warmed up and in gear, the engine will die off while sitting still on occasion...such as a stop light. Put it in Park/Neutral and it starts right back up like nothing has happened. I replaced the idle air control valve because they're notorious for failing and that didn't cure it. It almost acts like there's a vacuum leak somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. That's the only "performance" issue I've had with this truck since owning it.
The Ugly
--We moved to North Carolina from a state which does not have emissions testing...so someone before me had the thought of removing the catalytic converter. So...read this carefully, if you state has some kind of inspection criteria for a catalytic converter needs to be installed, IT WILL NOT PASS until one is installed.
