This is one of the nicest Monte SS in existence. I've owned this car since 1996, nd it is very special to me. I've made this machine into everything I think these cars should have been, ut couldn't be due to government regulations. Here's a list:
355 SBC, bolt main .010 block, orged flat top pistons. Engine has 11.1:1 compression and runs well on 93 octane fuel.
Mike Jones Camshaft, 495/.495 lift and 228/228at .050 duration, 12 LSA
TPiS/AFR joint effort heads, .02/1.60 58cc chambers, 87cc intake ports flow 275 cfm at.500 lift. These were $2200 heads.
Comp Cams Ultra Pro Magnum 1.6 full roller rockers for .528 total lift.
Cloyes Billet timing set
Engine makes 430 hp at the flywheel, 75 to the wheels. The car will turn high 12's in the 1/4.
The Intake manifold and Fuel rails are Edelbrock Pro-Flo-XT, he fuel system uses a Grand National Tank and fuel pump, ith an LS1 Corvette Fuel filter. LS1 Injectors are also used.
The system is coil on plug-that's 8 individual LS1 Coils!
The Throttle body, CM, ass Airflow Sensor, eated Oxygen sensors, eeEFI Connectionfor more info about the 24X system and the reluctor wheel/crank sensor/timing chain cover combo.
This systemis the reason the car makes 430 hp,runs on 93 octane with 11.1:1 compression and not racing fuel. It has an intelligent EFI system, ith knock sensing spark control, not an aftermarket high dollar EFIsystem which wouldn't have much control over spark.
The car is easily diagnosed through an OBD2 port in the stock OBD1 location. It is tuned with HP Tuners Software, nd uses a 2001 LS1 Camaro as the base vehicle program.
LS1 dual electric fans, ow and high speed controlled by the PCM, ot by some crappy parts store controller. This means you don't have a sensor stuck through the radiator fins.
Non a/c underdrive pulleys for a little extra power.
Frame painted POR-15, nderside of car repainted, asically frame off restoration stuff done while replacing frame.
Tremec TKO 5 speed transmission, enterforce clutch, 5lb GM flywheel
The clutch is hydraulic, sing an F-body master cylinder, raided steel line, and 4+3 Corvette Bellhousing.
8.5" 3.42 geared POSITRACTION Buick Grand National rear axle, ear as strong as a 12 bolt, hese have all but vanished from the used parts market. Axle housing was blasted while empty and painted as you can see in the photos. NO 1984 SS Monte Carlos had positraction originally.
13" C5 Corvette front brakes
12" LS1 F-Body rear brakes, ith this combo it stops amazingly. It also has steel braided front brake hoses.
B-Body tall spindles, odified for the C5 Brakes.
Hotchkiss front upper arms, hich adds caster and camber roll for much improved cornering. Rear arms are also Hotchkiss, nd the car sits on Hotchkiss 1" drop coils. It has KYB GR2 Shocks. Urethane bushings throughout, ar is smooth and tight.
3" true dual Torque Tech exhaust with original type2 chamber flowmasters, -pipe, ull length headers, agnaflow cats. Headers and mufflers Jet Hot coated.
Goodmark steel Cowl hood
17x8 and 17x9 ROH Snyper wheels
275/40 Nitto NT555RDrag radials(new)
Trunk mount battery, verStart MAXX I believe
140 amp alternator from an LT1
Complete non a/c ventilation system with all correct pieces, ery rare to find. The car, eing white, ever needed air, t's just cool inside even on a hot day.
Has rare radio delete plate, hich has exactwood grain match, speakers are still mounted in vehicle.
Slickest paint ever on one of these cars, et sanded and buffed, ll GM decals.
Glass all in good shape, ower windows and locks all function normally and quickly.
Weatherstrips around windows and doors have been replaced
140mph speedometer, eads speed correctly but odometer does not. Still Have original odometer and speedo showing mileage when removed for the 140 speedo.
this chassis has approximately 150k on it, f you add the 2 mileages from the 2 speedostogether.
The car has a new headliner and visors, he rest of the interior is original and in excellent shape.
bad part: on a salvage title from 1997, ar was hit from behind in the left framerail, rame has since been replaced with a straight Regal frame but title is marked. The car has no issues anymore.
Reason for selling: Can't get enough use out of it. A Monte SS can't be built into a better performing street car than this, nd especially not nearly for the price. This car has $15-20k in modifications alone, nd don't forget that its a nice clean rust free NC car to start with, nd a good one of these cars goes for $7-9K on the low end. The car is in January 2014 Car craft on pg 85 as well, eatured for its unique combination of work done. The car is offered here, nd the price reflects only a fraction of the time, ffort, nd MONEY that has gone into this car.
