This is the right car at the right price. NO RESERVE, BIDDING STARTS AT $1.00!
THE GOOD: This is a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door Hardtop. It is COMPLETE as shown. It is an 80's Resto-Mod that retains most of its originality. The original interior was recovered in white vinyl. The car was repainted over a solid body and appears to have very-little body-filler.There isRUST - and for those of you whoare restorers - it is original rust in the rockers, fenders, and quarter panels as shown. As the pictures indicate, the paint is flaking off in several areas revealing/resulting insurface rust.
The floor pans appear solid, however I was unable to get under the car for a detailed inspection. She says he has the ignition/trunk/doorkeys, he says he doesn't. I was unable to open the trunk, but again, from what I could see it looks solid.
The inner fender wells are solid and often can indicate what the condition of the under carriage is like.
The Vinyl headliner is nice and tight - no tears or holes.
The Stainless Trim is very nice and just needs some time on a polishing wheel.
The glass is all good.
The car was last driven in the late 1980's and has been setting in a barn.
Everything and anything is available in the aftermarket to restore this car.
THE BAD: THIS CAR NEEDS A TOTAL RESTORATION. there is bound to be RUST I wasn't able to see.
The original 265 and powerslide transmission are gone and replaced with a 350 motor and manual transmission.
The chrome is pitted and dull.
The front bumper needs to be replated. The rear bumper needs to be replaced.
Taillight bezels/door handles/emblems need to be replated/replaced.
The weather stripping is dry-rotted.
Needs a new interior.
No tires.
The Red paint is so faded it is nowa Salmon color.
In my opinion this car is a good candidate to be restored back to its original glory, but not so good that it would be a sin to resto-mod or customize it.
Car is in Richland Center, Wisconsin.
SOLD AS IS.
