1979 L48 Corvette w/Pewter finish
Up for sale is my 1979 Vette with T-Tops. The car was bought a little over 4 years ago and is being sold AS IS. That doesn’t speak to the car’s condition but I am no mechanic so this car is likely best for a current vette/muscle car owner who knows how to upgrade cars quickly and efficiently if need be. I cannot provide in depth specifics on the guts of the car as it’s been a “weekend warrior only” the past four years and as I said prior I’m not a mechanic. Please don’t ask for full writeups on the body/interior etc as I simply don’t have the time or knowledge to provide those things. That is why I’m offering the car at a very low price. I’m not putting ANY more money into it for any reason, all positives and negatives that I can vouch for over the past 4 years are listed below.
Family life and a change of address is forcing me to sell this car. It has driven great over the past 4 years with only a few issues along the way. It is a fantastic deal for a corvette and a perfect way to get out on the road for next spring/summer. With a little bit of TLC put into the car it could easily be brought back to it’s original glory. THAT much I know based on various professionals looking at it over the years.
CAR MUST BE PICKED UP BY BUYER AND PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED promptly with no complications. Car has flat passenger rear tire and the rest of the tires having been sitting for quite some time. A tow/flatbed is best for removing the car from my garage.
Also of Note- I transported the car to my new home about 3 months ago on the aforementioned flatbed since all records have been handed in (plates/reg etc.) I have not started it since that time. While the car is sure to run great I’m treating this car as almost a “barn find” since I haven’t driven it much at all the past 6 months. As previously mentioned this car is geared towards a current vette owner OR someone who can whip it into shape quickly in case there are any major problems waiting.
SERIOUS BUYERS PLEASE, I HAVE NO TIME FOR GAMES JUST HONEST BUYERS
The following list contains all the points that have been of major importance since purchasing the car in 2012. As stated above the car has driven great the last 4 years but not being a car enthusiast I have NOT dug into the guts of the car so I could not tell you anything too specific, other than it started with no problem and makes for a great ride! If you do have any specific questions about the car then I will gladly do my best to answer them. I’m an honest seller with a great feedback rating so buy with confidence. The green section is for upgrades while the blue is for repair issues both past and present.
New radiator system installed in 2013 along with hoses/connectors
Some Electrical wiring fixed up/replaced within last 2 years (minor connections/clamps etc.)
New mp3 ready radio installed last year
New front speakers installed for car radio
New brakes installed as of 2012
Headlights work fine
Car garage kept for last 4 years
Paint job is “pewter” or silver- paint is in very good condition except for a few chips here and there
Comes with both T-tops and they work perfectly
Tires structurally fine but now have flattening issues due to sitting
Solid engine performance, started up perfectly with no issues a few months back (summer to be EXACT)
Temp/Oil/Battery etc gauges work fine
Some noticeable scratches on T-Tops (nothing that can’t be taken care of at a body shop if need be)
Recently had brakes bled due to car sitting in garage for a few months without major use (Vette owners surely know all about this)
Master cylinder was refilled after problem above, fluid was extremely low, brakes work ok now although a bit tighter than before
Speedometer NOT accurate and likely needs replacement- shows 20 mph ABOVE actual speed
Tachometer NOT functional- Needs repair OR replacement
Rear view mirror detached from window, new mirror needed
Air condition needs total work if owner wants to use it- I never had desire to so it was never even looked at
Power antennae works but disconnected to save on battery draws when car off
100K MILES ON TACHOMETER (such a number seems pretty accurate for a 37 year old car)
Driver side power window sticks near bottom/passenger side FINE
NOT original engine according to a mechanic who worked on the car a few years back
The leak stains on the ground in thephotos are from years ago when I first got the car. They were mostly radiator related before it was replaced.
Any leak issues now are strictly "AS IS"
Its sad to see the car go but family life dictates your vehicle situation sometimes so I hope for the car to go to a good home- good luck! Remember Buyer- this car is NOT a lemon, I’m merely being as honest as I can with you so you don’t think you’re buying a MINT beauty. A few dollars and some patience should get this beauty back to its original glory!
