1958 Chevrolet Apache Pickup, Frame-Off Restored, Cold AC, Drives Very Well
1958 Chevrolet Other Pickups 3200 Standard Cab Pickup 2-Door Description
This 1958 Chevrolet Apache Pickup Truck received a body-off restoration about 15-20 years ago, and has been kept in dry, indoor storage since that time. It is absolutely rust free, and all of the body mounts, cab corners, and rockers are in perfect condition. The underside and engine compartment will need to be detailed for show, but they are still very presentable. The chassis condition indicates that this was a full body-off restoration, as the frame and underside of the floors were prepped and detail painted to a very high level. The paint is a show quality job, with excellent detailing in the jambs and interior. The sides are laser straight, with no visible waves or sanding marks. The paint has aged very well, with no noticeable cracking or other issues. The restoration was done prior to the current owners purchase, so we do not have documentation on the work performed. The current owner has driven the truck about 1000 miles in the last two years, and it runs and drives very well. I have also taken the truck on a test drive, and found it to perform quite nicely. It starts easily, idles well, and rides very smooth for a vintage truck. The front end feels tight, with no slop in the steering or other issues. All of the signals and lights appear to work, with the exception of the two spotlights. All of the dash gauges function as well, along with the heater and air conditioning unit. The AC was recently serviced, and is ice cold. It is a modern unit, with an efficient Sanden compressor. The truck has a 283 V8 under the hood, and the engine runs very well, with no smoke or significant leaks. An electric cooling fan was recently installed, along with a modern alternator for better drivability. The truck holds a charge well, and does not have any phantom power drains. The transmission was converted to an automatic, and appears to be a Turbo 350. It has a functional floor shifter, and looks stock from the interior. The current owner had GM three-point safety belts installed by a professional fabricator, and the work is very well done. The master cylinder was also recently replaced, and the entire braking system was serviced and adjusted. The truck stops very well considering it has the original drum brakes. Tires are wide whitewall bias ply, and have good tread with no flat spots. Radio is a modern Custom Autosound unit, and works through one speaker. It uses the original dash opening, without modifications. The radio is missing it's knobs, which are readily available. The bed area of the truck is in excellent condition, and has beautiful bed sides and wood flooring. I believe there are a few minor scratches in the bed area, but nothing major. The driver's door is a bit hard to close, and may require minor adjustments. Both windows work well, and the weatherstripping is in good condition. I am listing this truck for a close friend, and have verified that it has a clear Arizona title in the owner's name. I am happy to answer any questions, and can make the truck available for a test drive by appointment. My name is Alex, and my phone number is 520-465-2539. The truck is located in sunny Tucson Arizona, just off of interstate 10. International bidders are welcome. $500 deposit due via paypal within 24 hours of auction close.
