You are bidding on a rare, 2-owner, BARN FIND, 1960 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. This is a survivor that does still run and drive! Zora Duntov actually drove this and the owners have a letter from his wife! The car was bought in 1972 and restoration started shortly after. It was put on the show circuit in 1976. Again it a survivor that is not numbers-matching but has a built 327ci motor with Holley carb, 4-speed transmission, dual exhaust and stainless steel brake lines.

Car was originally turquoise and white and was repainted the current black with all black interior too. The car has been sitting for the last 10 years for the most part. Some work has been done to keep it running but mainly has been parked. It could be put back on the road as is with some work or completely restored since most of the car looks to be original.

This is a rare classic car with a reserve to protect some of its value. The owner wants the car to sell in this first auction – so, if you are interested, bid on the auction. Bid retractions are not accepted. Retracting your bid for an incorrect amount without entering a corrected amount is a clear attempt to reveal the Reserve as well as a violation of eBay policy. We block bidders who violate this policy and also report the violation to eBay. If the Reserve is not met we will work with the high bidder to complete the sale.

The Body is very solid, nice, shiny, and straight for having been sitting for years and having a 40-year-old paint job. The car was purchased in 1972 and was restored over the next few years. It was an NCCC show car for many years. The car was enjoyed and driven for the next 40 years and is pretty much the way it was when built except the aging factor. There are no dents, dings, or major damage to the body except for minor scratches and a couple of chips from the long storage and one crack on the passenger side rocker. The 40-year-old paint still shines although the pictures make the car look way better than what it really looks like. Paint restoration/buffing would bring out the beauty again. There are a few areas that would require some paint touch up if you choose this route. All the stainless trim is present and most is in good shape. Some pieces have a few minor bumps and bruises but should be restorable. The chrome pieces are in fair-to-good shape with some minor pitting. Bumpers are nice and straight although there are some minor pitting and issues, but all could be restored or new NOS pieces used as replacements. Weatherstrippings are fair to good shape. A new convertible top was installed years back but has never been up so it probably doesn’t fit anymore. The hardtop is in great shape but the driver-side quarter glass is spider-webbed. Except for that, the glass is in great condition with no cracks or delamination. The windows, doors, trunk and hood operate as they should. The hood release mechanism will need repair. Again, this car has been sitting for years and still has all the dust and cobwebs! She needs a full detailing, polishing and mechanical systems check!

The Black Interior is in nice shape considering the age. Most of the interior is free from damage, rips or tears except for a couple of small holes in the driver’s seat and some other imperfections throughout the interior. Again, this car has been sitting for years and does have some rodent and mildew smell and will need a full interior detailing and/or replacement because its old. Most are still working; horn, instrument lights, oil pressure gauge, battery, temp gauge, headlights, radio, brake lights, speedometer, odometer and directionals. Marker light bulbs in rear are bad and do not work. The steering wheelis in good condition. Carpeting and the door panels are in decent shape.

The Drivetrain does operate! A battery was installed and it started right up without any issues, smoke or noise! The non original 327ci engine was rebuilt during the restorations and is untouched except for a Holley carb that was put on several years ago. The car does run. The 4-speed wide-ratio transmission appears to be a T-10 and is probably not original to the car (please see pictures) and runs and shifts as it should with no issues. Clutch seems to be fine too, no slipping or noise either. The master cylinder was changed out along with new stainless steel brake lines and brakes all of the way around several years ago but the job was never completed all the way. There are no back brakes and very little front brakes. The system probably needs to be bled. It is movable and will manage to stop at very low speed. The system needs to be gone through again. It has NOT been driven on the road or up past 15 mph. I did drive this around my yard and I don’t think there are any more issues. All systems need to be checked, serviced and inspected before putting back on the road.

The Undercarriageis good. I’m sure there are a few issues but I haven’t seen anything major with the body. The frame on the other hand does have at least 2 areas that are issues. First is a ¾” rust hole in the bottom of the frame, driver side where the frame straightens out. Second is the passenger side front leaf spring mounting area. It is cracked and rusted around the mounting bracket. Both probably could be repaired in place to make it a driver again. Fuel and brake lines appear to be in good condition. Exhaust appears to be in fair to good condition. Tires and wheels look good but tires are old nylon belted tires from many years ago. The old ET mags are heavily pitted and corroded.

Other info: Car comes with two sets of keys and clear Ohio title stating 87,416 miles.
