The owner in the the photo above, J.W just got out High school & signed up with the Marine Corp in 1964. He purchased this 64' Vette from his friend who couldn't afford it being told by his mother. JW chose it over other Corvettes due to the more space in the rear to put hisfootlocker. In 66', he put in storage as he left to Vietnam & again in 1971 from the QuanticoBase.
As he mentions in thevideo, he got married to a CIA agent & purchased a home near Camp Pendleton in SouthernCalifornia.Hetraveledaround the United states to different bases, having documentation to prove it. Even a ticket him getting pulled over in Virginia, still in the glove box.
In the 1990's he stop driving it. It was parked in front of his him (outskirts of Los Angeles) and just sat. He mention people would stop by, leaving notes & asking if the Vette was for sale on a weekly base. It was a love he had for it, he couldn't let go. You can tell by the video - he never took his eyes off of her.
*Photo below is one of the many notes he kept over the years regarding purchasing the car
MarineGovernment ID's still all in pace
The Corvetteis more a time capsule then anything & everything still remains the same way upon the find ( nothing taken away or removed ).
The car remains pretty much inBarn Findcondition, very original. Has plenty of characteristic - way too much Patina that it should not be restored but left in its current condition.
The owner since 1964 mention only partial of the body was touched but to be on the safeside, I'm going to say it had one repaint to its original color.
Factory Ermine White with Red vinyl interior - Power Brakes - AM/FM Radio - All original Soft Ray Glass
Car traveled around the United States & shows wear / tear. Not been one of those car that was put in a bubble. It was driven by a US Mariann, traveling to Corp Bases.
Poor weather striping cause water to get in the passenger side floor. Small rust sports on the pillars of the body when you open the doors.
Numbers Matching 327/ High Horse 365. 52 year Owner mention the engine was always a blast to drive. Normal service was done to keep it running.
When it became in my possession, it was taken to a Corvette specialist. All fluids drained. had it on jack stands. Took out the gas tank, cleaned the original tank, rebuilt the original Holley Carb. Went thru the brakes, fuel lines & she stared right off & man does the solid lifter sound good. Replaced all the tires with vintage Firestone white walls.
Took it on the 405 freeway & just drove it for about 30 minutes. Hauled Ass after sitting for 20+ years.
Runs well, starts up - no smoke. Engine still has plenty of power. Please keep in mind, you cant drive it across county, still needs hoses, etc.
I enjoyed it, now its someone else's turn to.
Glove Box remains a time capsule. Maps, Traffic tickets, records, registrations &military paperwork
Below a Storage receipt / Non operation when he went back to Vietnamfrom 1970 to 1971
Photo below is a warning ticket issued by the Nebraska State Police
This is a Corvette with great history & a documented story. The miles are tracked down to show there accuracy. Plenty Of Patinathat whenever it is driven - people stop & stare.
This is a unrestored 64' Corvete that needs everything but I would get it to the point when its road safety & leave it alone. Too much history & patina to take it apart. Your bidding on a car with with patina - needs paint/interior & its original. Not a perfect car with chips & scratches._______________________________________
