1984 Chevrolet Corvette Description

Please read this WHOLE description because there is a lot of email questions coming in that are already answered here.

I purchased this Corvette from a private owner in August of 2000 for my wife. (She liked it so well that she turned around & bought a new Z06 Corvette in 2002) This 1984 Coupe has 52,100 original miles on it and the numbers match. My wife is the second or third owner. This car was completely painted in 2002 after someone clipped the front left bumper. It was a surface, not a structural, repair & she wanted all new paint anyway. After painting, it was parked inside (once she bought the Z06) and only driven on occasion, hence the low mileage. On one occasion while taking the car for its bi-monthly spin, it began to rain and the car slid into a short 3’ tall green Alltel phone box. Due to the rain, she slowed & was only traveling 30 mph. There is body damage to the left front bumper and down the left side (see pics). The damage on the drivers door did not extend to the inside panel or break the window. We did not repair it because we had already had it totally painted to the tune of $7K & needed a break. Over the time we have had the car we did mechanical work & up keep as needed. We replaced the clutch, water pump, steering rack, fuel injectors, mufflers & tailpipe, plug wires, fuel pump, brakes, hoses, & changed the transmission fluid. The boot lid shocks were replaced. The digital dash was repaired. It had regular oil changes and tune-ups. There was much more done but I cannot locate all the receipts. When I took a traveling job, the car was rarely driven and only “started” on occasion. It failed to start the last time I went to drive it. I got as far as replacing the battery and fuel pump & filter… but I am too busy to spend time on it and do not want to spend any more money on it. I honestly think it is something minor. The engine turns over but does not catch. Never the less, you will most likely have to have it trailered to your home or shop. It will also need new tires and probably carpet. The interior leather and dash look good and the car was fun to drive. Truly a muscle car. If you have any requests for a specific photo or need to ask a general question, please do not hesitate.

1984 Corvette TRIVIA: The C3 car bowed out in 1982, and because of development delays, there was no 1983 model. When the 1984 C4 debuted in March 1983, its completely redesigned body, chassis, and interior caused quite a stir. The new coupe had a dramatic, aerodynamic stance that spoke to its wind tunnel-tested design, and the inside featured completely electronic instrumentation (Digital Dash) with liquid crystal displays. The 1984 Corvette Coupe was Motor Trends Car of the Year in 1984. Number produced: 51,547.

After a long decline in the performance of its predecessor, the new Corvette placed an emphasis on performance and handling, and the results were sparkling, relatively speaking. The car featured Chevy's tried and true small-block 350-cid V-8 with Cross Fire Injection, which was essentially the only carryover from the 1982 model. To increase balance, the engine sat far back in the car, and it produced a modest 205 horsepower and 290 ft-lb of torque. It was mated to either a standard four-speed automatic or a trick "4+3" transmission—a four-speed manual with overdrives in the top three gears, which increased fuel economy. Plastic transverse leaf springs, unequal length upper and lower A-arms, and an anti-roll bar suspended the C4 up front, while the rear substituted trailing arms for A-arms in the setup. Four-wheel disc brakes with aluminum calipers were standard. The Corvette was good for a 0 to 60 mph sprint in seven seconds.
