1968 Chevrolet Camaro Description

1968 Camaro Restomod - Complete Rotisserie Restoration

This Camaro started its life as a nicely restored 1968 Camaro SS Clone. This Camaro has been completely gone through with no screw left unturned. The body was removed from the Subframe and the car was built from the ground up with everything new custom built or ordered from Classic Industries.

The Camaro was built around a Heidts Pro G2 Subframe with 2" drop spindles, tubular upper and lower arms, power rack and pinion steering, 12"Wilwood disc brakes, Billet coil over with 700# chrome springs with subframe connectors, sway bars, and drive shaft loop. This was all professionally powder coated black. The rear of the car was built on a Heidts 4 link with spherical bearings and Axle brackets, top crossmember and coil over shocks with 300# chrome Springs. The rear was also fitted with a sway bar.

The 496 Stroker engine was built on a Gen 5 block that was professionally machined and built with AFR Aluminum 325 heads Eagle Crank Stroker, Scat H beam rods, Probe pistons, Plasma moly rings, King Bearings, Comp Cam Camshaft Roller, Comp Cam Roller lifters, Comp Cam Push Rods, Scorpion Rocker Arms Roller, Custom Aluminum Valve Covers, and Edelbroke Aluminum Intake Manifold. Engine is equipped with a Summit 850 Carb but the engine can easiliy be fitted with a 950 and adjust3d for more power for the strip. The engine feeds into a Monster Transmissions Level 4 heavy Duty 700R4 automatic transmission. All information on the transmission is available at request. The rear end is a 9" Ford with new housing and housing ends with Moser Axles, Yukon Nodular Iron Pro N Case, Aluminum Daytona Pinion support, 1350 Billet Steel Yoke, Yukon Grizzly Detroit Locker style 35 Spline Unit, Motive Performance gears, Timken bearings, and 4 piston brake calipers with 12" Wilwood disc brakes. The car includes Hooker Ceramic headers with Magnaflow exhaust, Custom built aluminum 21 gallon sump style fuel tank, Huge 4 core Aluminum Radiator with 3300 CFM Flexlite Black Max Fan. To fit that big engine a 4" Cowl induction hood was fitted using new hood hinges. Brand new wheels and tires were custom fit to the stance of the car which include American Racing 17x8" Aluminum Wheels with Nitto NT-555 235/45/R17 tires on the front and 18x9" wheels with 255/45/R18 tires on the back. This stagger keeps the stance identical front to back while while providing the aggressive rake that makes a muscle car look tough.

The interior of the car was not spared at all either. The car was completely gutted and rewired with an American Auto Wire Wiring Harness and fuse panel. An New Ididit Steering column was added with a beautiful Mahogany Grant Steering wheel and behind the steering wheel sits a nice set of Dakota Digital gauges. A classic Auto Air Flex fit Air Conditioner and Heater system was put in with a nice 3 knob control unit mounted in a custom dash panel for a clean look. The custom sleek console houses an Alpine Deck unit that controls a nice Alpine Stereo system that is nicely hidden behind custom kick panels and a custom made trunk kit that hides the 10" Eclipse subwoofer and Alpine amps behind the trunk kit. The custom seats wear built using reclining frames and a seat pattern made to look vintage but with a modern appointment. A hard headliner was added to give more headroom and offer a more modern appearance. A cutpile carper kit was also used for a slightly more modern look but with a vintage feel overall. The entire firewall and interior of the car was covered in a hushmat product that provides superior heat and sound insulation. All new weather stripping, door hinges, trim pieces, windows.....ALL OF IT HAS BEEN DONE!!!!! This car is one of a kind and not a bolt has been left unturned.

I have finished photos of the car but also have a link to the build photos that will provide an excellent idea of the work and quality that went into the amazing 1968 Camaro. The car has not been on a Dyno since completion but the estimated power by the engine builder was approximately 650 to 700 with the 950 Carb and approximately 600 to 650 with the 850 carb. The engine was dialed in by a professional, the transmission was dialed in by a professional....this car is simply amazing with more horsepower than any street car would ever need but the car has been dialed in to run high octane pump gas and the driveability of the car makes it a pleasure to get in and drive. The car is a brand new restoration and the engine has gone through its break in period and once that was done the odometer and gauges were connected. The odometer is currently reading 20 miles. Don't miss the opportunity to own this beautiful car at half the price to built it again.

This Camaro has WAY too much to list and I have only touched on some of the items. I have complete build pictures in a link that I will add at a later date or that I can send you upon request.
