Here is a walk-around and a cold engine start on YouTube at this link:

This car is being sold for a friend. My background with classic automobiles extends for over 40 years. I have built and restored many Corvettes and Porsches and am a member of numerous car clubs including PCA & NCRS. I have judged at many concour events in and around Southern CA. This is a stellar, turn-key automobile at the highest-level of restoration. This is a solid #1 condition vehicle that needs nothing and runs perfectly. The car is owned by a local San Clemente collector that has been involved in restorations for most of his life, he is in his 80’s and is a car legend locally for his show cars. This car was built in Southern California and has spent every minute of it’s restored life here in his garage in sunny San Clemente. I cannot stress enough this is a car “freak” owned car. There is over $120K in this build and it is needs to be sold. This is a no reserve auction and is going to sell to the highest bidder.

Imagine if you can a vehicle so stunning that it draws a crowd when it rolls up on the sand at Malibu Beach or parked “up front” in the Valet Circle at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard. This is the kind of unique car that is nearly impossible to walk or drive by without squeezing off a double take or three. The unique personality of Old Classic Beauty, Modern, Luxurious Road Car, and Family Hot Rod/Beach Cruiser are all woven into this extravagant automobile.

It is nearly impossible to describe this one-off custom modified modern show car. Perfection is a naughty word to throw around when it comes to automotive anything. This vehicle exudes perfection; in design, in workmanship, appearance, performance, handling and ride quality. Perfection abounds in this 55 Chevy Bel-Air Post Sedan (coupe) . You can See it, Feel it, Hear it and Smell it.

There is a unique perfection in this over-all build. This uniqueness comes from the blend of new modern mechanical and electronic technology to the grace and elegance of a 50’s rare classic (the first year of magic Tri-Fives). Just the right touches from a modern tilt steering column with the original style steering wheel (in smaller diameter) with power/tilt to pursue that modern feel front-end steering underneath. Just the right touches of modern and classic abound at every corner and quality inch of this BRAND NEW Automobile.

This 1955 Bel Air “Post” is all that and more - with completely functional modern mechanics and reliability, yet wrapped in an awesome old school shell. How cool to just jump in take off for any destination your mind can imagine and know you can get there and back with nary a thought about breaking down.

Absolutely stunning body panel fit and paint work catch your eye first, followed by the distinct blast of “leather” air as you enter this marvelous machine. The leather coachwork so fittingly wraps around your body, you feel as though you slipped into the cockpit of a brand new Range Rover. The interior coachwork is nearly flawless, from paint finish, dash chrome to carpet and headliner.

Driving a performance Hot Rod like this one starts with a quick turn of the key which lights up the sound of a gentle thunder emanating from below. The 425hp LS1 comes alive without the slightest hesitation. Placing it in gear finds a quick snap into gear with the astonishing 700R4 Four-Speed Automatic Transmission and just the right amount of rumble from the custom exhaust as you accelerate from stopped. Not too loud, not too quiet, perfection. How did they do that?

Driving the car is best described as a sensual experience. Tell it to go FAST and it thunders at the slightest touch to the accelerator. Roll the seat back and settle in to the open road with the ride quality of a Mercedes Benz S Class. This is a motorcar that can do almost anything you want it to do. Remember, this is a modern car from drive-train to modern driving conveniences such as power steering, power front disc-brakes, power windows, modern stereo and CD player and air conditioning. And, IT’S A HOT ROD TOO. This beauty has it all.

Over six years of hard work went into this project built by professional shops here in Southern CA. The plan was to build a 55 that was a practical street machine with all the modern goodies for cruising in traffic, with enough power to plant the driver right into the seat. You can sit in this beauty in traffic for hours without the temperature moving in the slightest.

Body/Paint

The original car was a very complete, very straight original body, original floors Los Angeles built car that was treated to a complete media blast of the body to strip out all old paint and imperfections. The car was then worked by a true Southern CA master of body and paint. Over 300 hours was spent in stripping, body reworking, blocking, prep, paint and color sanding to turn this into the absolute gorgeous bodywork masterpiece that it is. Take a look at the close tolerances on the close up pictures of the shut lines. All edges are finished to near perfection. The paint surface is deep, rich and completely mirror-finish flat. I can find no areas of weakness and no flaws anywhere in the body or paint work. Over $35K was spent in total for paint, body and plating on this fine concour quality restoration.

The rear was mini-tubbed to house the larger back wheels and tires and is difficult to even notice it was done, it was engineered perfectly into the lines and body of the car. Magic.

Undercarriage

Very original no rust frame that was completely stripped and redone. Much of the undercarriage parts and pieces have been powder-coated. The undercarriage and floors were all original and did not need any reworking. The front suspension is tubular A-Arm design. The car has been driven since restoration and I did not get a chance to even wipe down the undercarriage for the pictures. It is very clean and tidy, just a little on the dusty side. A 30 minute detail would bring it back to show level.

Drivetrain

The engine is a Crate LS1 that was brand new and installed during the restoration. The transmission was also new when it was installed during the build. The braking system was completely restored to brand new, including the addition of Wilwood brakes to the front end. The electrical system is a “Painless” brand new at the time of restoration. The car simply runs and cruises down the road like a brand new Mercedes Benz… with a nice little rumble. All wheel alignment was performed to make sure it tracks down the road straight and true with hands off the steering wheel at 80 mph. This little car gets great gas mileage with the 3.55 rear end ratio.

Interior

All brand new Leather. Seats were completely rebuilt and have a nice firm feel to them, one of the most comfortable bench seats I have ever encountered. The Dash is a unique blend of the original style trim with new modern Classic Instruments “Haneline” gauges. A brand new AM/FM 10-CD Stereo with front and rear speakers is neatly designed into the dash with the 10-CD and a sub-woofer neatly configured into the trunk. The system fills the cockpit with amazing surround sound.

Nothing was left to chance in this modern restomod, everything works like it should. Reach in through the window, turn the key and it starts right up thanks to an electronic ignition. It steers like a new car thanks to the Tubular A-Arm suspension and modern power disc brakes for exceptional braking power. It motors with authority due to its brand-new LS1 crate motor and electronic fuel injection. No stinky gasoline smells to deal with. Ceramic coated headers add a nice hot rod look under the hood with 2.5” custom mandrel bent exhaust, the perfect sound for this black cruiser.

The hard work of building this beauty is over, the money is spent and the result is one amazing great-looking classic. If you have been looking for a professional build that features everything you want in a restomod, your search may be over.

Whether you are donning a pair of Board Shorts or a Tuxedo, you will always feel just right in this once in a life-time Dream Machine.

This car needs to be sold and is being offered in a No Reserve Format.

I cannot stress to any potential buyer how important it is to come and look at this amazing automobile. We will be happy to take you for a spin so you can feel it, hear it and experience the artistry that is this stunning 55 Bel Air.
