1979 Chevrolet C-10 Custom Deluxe Description

Welcome! For sale here is my 1979 Chevrolet C-10 short box work truck. This truck has had some pretty extensive work done on it by myself tomake it a reliable daily driver work truck. It is not ashow truck by any means, but has a lot of really good upgraded parts and work done to it.
The 350V8 engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, and currently sits at 34,335 miles. The engine runs very well and is strong. Mileage may increase slightly as I still use the truck from time to time. The truck has factory AC that was converted to R134a about three years ago when our family mechanic installed a new compressor. It blows well and has no leaks. I recently added a few more pounds of refrigerant to get it ready foranother Texas summer.
The alternator and starter were replaced in early 2015, and the 350 Turbo 3-speed automatictransmission was rebuilt by Eagle Transmission by Plano, Texas in October 2015. It has about 400 miles on it since the rebuild and shiftsperfectly. The speedometer runs about 3-4mph high. The gas gauge does NOT work.
The brakes were serviced about six months ago by Meineke, and the truck stops on a dime now. It does have front disc, rear drums. The exhaust system dumps beneath the bed and sounds great. New rear tires were installed about two years ago, and the truck passed its most recent state inspection last week with no issues at all.
The interior of the truck has been where I put most of the work. The truck has had repair panels installed onthe floor, as it had typical Chevy rust there. New padding andblack carpet was installed, as well as anew black dash pad, new door panels, new carpet lower door panels, newblack sun visors and mounts, newseatbelts, and a new seat. The seat is from a custom black velour seat made for a 1960s Chevy truck. I installed it onthe original seat rails/sliders, so it isn't a perfect fit, but it isn't going anywhere. I will also include theoriginal red vinyl seat, which has prettyextensive wear on thedriver's side, but could easily be recovered and restuffed.
A Sony CD player wasinstalled into the open slot that the previous owner had cut in. I wired it in directly, along with a 12vcigarette lighter type power plug. There are two Kenwood 6" speakers inthe lower doors and two 6x9 Infinity speakers in independent housings behind the seat. The sound system is very good and can be cranked up very loud.
The exterior of the truck needs some TLC. There are scratches, scuffs, and dings on all body panels, as this was a work truck. The previous owner also dented the rear quarter panel above the taillight and made a very poor attempt to repair it. There are also some repair sections along the door and quarter panel to stop some rusting that wasdeveloping. The previous owner also hitsomething withthe hood up, to there is a slight 8" crease on the right side of the hood that can cause the hood to hang up when closing it from time to time. The clear coat on the cab and hood has baked off in the sun and was like this when I bought it.
I installed new headlights, taillights, andreflectors, and polishedall the chrome. The wheels are Cragar style. I Plasti-dipped them black a few years ago, as the original silver finish was stained.
This was a good work truck for me for ten years. It could use some paint and body work tobe a real head-turner, but Ihave gotten nothing butcompliments every time I drive it. Itruns strong, drives well, and sounds great. The interior is quite plush for a work truck, and the engine and drivetrain have had all regular maintenance done at normal intervals. I saw a return of 14mpg onthe highway around 10-11mpg in the city, and I don't have the lightest of feet whendriving.
I am running this auction with a reserve, as I don't need to sell this truck at all. It justdoesn't get the use it deserves, so I figured I would pass it on to someone else. I will not tell you the exact reserve, but it is less than $6,000. This would make an excellent work truck, or a nice project for someone who knows body work well. The square body short box C-10 is becoming very popular, and the fact that this truck is mechanically sound AND has modernized factory AC means it will run great for years. Average NADA retail value on this truck is currently over $11,000, and short box C-10s have skyrocketed in value lately. I have the clear Texas title in-hand!
If you would like to have a mechanics inspection, this must be done before the end of the auction, and the cost of that inspection is on YOU, not me. I will not pay for shipping/delivery, but will assist you in finding a shipper if you need help. Local pick-up is of course preferred. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of auction, and accepted forms of payment include all major credit cards, cashiers checks, and USPS money orders. I will only accept PayPal for the initial deposit, not the entire purchase. If you have any questions, please feel freeto ask, but I willnot give out the reserve, nor will I entertain lowball offers. Thanks for looking!
