1962 CORVAIR MONZA STATION WAGON
This is a two owner car that was in storage the last 18 years. The largest seller of Corvair parts on the west coast told me that he hadn'theard ofa Monza 4 speed wagon in 5 years. There were 2,362 Monza wagon's made. He stated that most of the wagons he knew of over the last 50 years were automatics. I'm sure there are some 4 speed'sstill out there that some of you know of.
The paint is old but shines well and very few flaws. The body is very straight with good factory gaps. The doors, ood and trunk fit nicely. The chrome and stainless are original and presentable. It should have newdoor and trunk rubber replaced. The glass is very good except for one wing window is cracked. There are no patch panelsin the floor pans.
The interior is well preserved. The seats, oor panels and carpets are in good condition. The headliner is split in some seams. The dash is in good original condition. The head lights, ail lights and turn signals work. The wipers and heater fan work The radio and horn do not work.
The motor runs very well. Because it sat for so many years, e changed the oil, as, park plugs, ebuilt one of the carburetors, erviced the brakes andinstalled anew battery. It has an oil leak somewhere but we neglected to notice it until after it was done. It can be driven daily but I wouldGUESS it leaksa quart every 500 miles. The 4 speedtransmission shifts nicely and the suspension is tight and it drives smoothly at 60 MPH.
This is a driver quality car that is a very good survivor. It has 4 brand new white wall tires. It presents itself very well for being 54 years old.
