1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L79
1966 Chevrolet Corvette Description
Nice 1966 Corvette convertible with auxillary hardtop. .Has a 327/350 rebuilt Corvette engine with casting number 3858180 and coded build date 10/8/1965. The engine has great power but is still very driveable.
The body is excellent with no damage and no evidence of previous damage. It has a big block hood. The car was repainted in the original Ermine white. The paint has some imperfections but has a beautiful high gloss shine. There are no stress cracks and no crazing. The car has no rust damage and the frame is rock solid with no rust, damage or evidence of previous damage repair. The car is clean underneath. All work done on the car has been easy with no rusted fasteners or ill fitting parts. .
The car has its original 4 speed transmission and positraction differential.
The interior is good. The door panels are great. The dash is original and shows some wear on the control labels, the gauge faces are very good, the dash top pad on the passenger's side has a crack. The seats are very good with no wear or cracks but the driver's seat has a frayed bead on the side toward the door (see photo). Most of the chrome and weatherstripping are original. The car is set up for a convertible top but only has the auxillary hardtop. The glass on the hardtop is scratched and I am including a good used replacement glass. The car has a nice set of BF Goodrich radial TA tires with good tread.
Actual mileage is unknown. I have put less than 500 miles on the car in the last 2 1/2 year. The car is a 3 owner Indiana car.
Recent improvements include: rebuilt engine, new clutch, new chambered exhaust (very mellow sound but not too loud), new fuel tank and sending unit, new brake master cylinder, new KYB shocks, new carpet, new battery, Hurst shifter, brake work, hoses, Edelbrock intake manifold and 1406 carb. The carb has not been installed but the existing Carter 4 barrel is useable as-is but the choke is not working and the car is slow to warm up.
The headlights, wipers and gauges work. The clock, radio, odometer and heater are original and do not. While the car needs additional detail work as would be expected in a car of its age, it is completely useable as-is and can be driven or taken to your local cruise in right away.
The title is clean and clear and I have it in hand.
