You know we get a lot of A-body convertibles here at Streetside Classics, o when one of our experts says "This is maybe the finest Chevelle I've ever seen," this 1967 Chevelle convertible is probably something very, ery special. With a built 396 under the hood and those big wheels, he pretext of this being a candidate for points judging is long gone, ut if you're looking for the slickest, ost beautifully crafted, nd freshest A-body ragtop on the market, e're pretty sure this is it. The sizzling PPG Bolero Red paint is anything but subtle, nd on this big, ad convertible it delivers big-time eyeball appeal. Of course, hat's only possible with great bodywork, o every square inch of the sheetmetal was stripped, traightened, nd smoothed before any of that gorgeous red paint was applied and the results were definitely worth the effort. The doors close easily and show good shut lines, he factory hood (with those trick inserts) fits flush, nd you can see how crisp and clear the reflections are in the car's surfaces; you know that doesn't happen by accident. The great thing is, his car kept all its original trim, ncluding the bright chrome bumpers and Super Sport logos on the quarters, o it has a very stock look. But as you've no doubt already surmised, othing built in 1967 looked this good.Chevelle fans will also be delighted to see a somewhat unusual bright red interior, nd not only that, ut it's a bucket seat/4-speed setup! The seat covers, oor panels, nd carpets look recent, nd there's a handsome bright red steering wheel that looks especially cool here. The original gauges were nothing exciting, o a tack was tucked into the corner where it doesn't block anyone's view and the clock on the center console is awfully cool. The real point, owever, s that this car is exceptionally well-assembled and the interior fits like new. Settle in behind the wheel, lip the Hurst shifter into first gear, nd ease the clutch out, nd this car looks and feels like a million bucks. That's also true of the trunk, hich is finished with black carpets and a substantial stereo system that includes amplifiers, big subwoofers, nd a CD changer. Up top there's a bright white convertible top that fits so snugly you can bounce quarters off its surface. Big blocks just slip right between the Chevelle's front fenders, o this one got a balanced and blueprinted 396 that's dressed a lot like the original might have been. A black air cleaner hides a Holley double-pumper atop an Edelbrock intake, ut the Chevy Orange paint on the block sure looks like GM-issue. Just about every single working part of this car was replaced or rebuilt within the past year, ncluding the engine, raking system, uncie 4-speed transmission, nd the 12-bolt Posi rear end with 3.42 gears inside. There's a brand-new Flowmaster exhaust system give it a wonderfully threatening rumble that sounds like the front straight at Daytona at full throttle and the entire suspension is upgraded with Hotchkis components so it handles better than anything this big has a right to. The floors are solid, he rockers are straight, nd all the work has a very professional look to it, o there's no denying this car's quality. Four wheel disc brakes live behind those polished Boyd Coddington wheels and staggered 17-inch rubber. This is one of those cars that's probably even nicer in person than it looks in photos. Straight, eautifully built, nd impressively fast, ou couldn't build one this nice for less money. Call today!
