78 Camaro Z28 supercharged
1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Description
I purchased this rare 1978 Camaro Z28 appx. 15 years ago from a gentleman wh purchased it new in Arizona. I am the second owner. When purchased the car had a little over 20K miles.
Car history as follows:Purchased fully loaded with A/C, Hurst T-roofs, 4 speed trans, 3:73 posi.I have the build sheet and documentation for the car.Sometime after it was purchased the car was sent to New York and brought to Motion Performance where the engine was broken down and to support a B&M supercharger.A 4:11 posi rear end completed the package. An L88 Motion Hood was also added to accommodate the blower.
A few years ago, I contacted Joel Rosen at Motion to see if they had information on the car. Motion asked $1500 for investigation which I did not pursue.
5K miles ago the old engine gave out and a new crate blower motor with a new polished Weiand blower was professionally installed. The supercharger produces 7-8 lbs boost, 500hp and 450 torque. All mechanical parts were replaced or rebuilt including the trans, brakes, and Hurst Competition-Plus shifter added, Holly 750 Ultra double-pumper (aluminum) with automatic choke, billet fuel pressure regulator, and aluminum gas tank.
The interior and trunk are redone to original and a Grant steering wheel was added. The original unused spare tire and inflator are still in the trunk.
The instrument panel was restored and boost and oil pressure gauges were added along with a rev-limiter. The clock is digital and a Pioneer stereo/cd was added in the original opening. The A/C unit operates perfectly and Halogen headlights provide good vision.
The car has powder-coated Hooker headers, Flowmasters and stainless pipes. Electronically-controlled exhaust cutouts are activated by a dashboard switch.
Eaton springs, new shocks and control arms provide for a nice ride. Lakewood traction bars keep the torque under control.MSD provided the distributor and Boost timing controller (BTM).
The tires are new with BFG Radial t/a 225/60/15 in front and 275/60/15 in the rear.American Racing Torque Thrust wheels complete the stealth look.
The engine compartment is pristine with custom fabricated valve covers, braided lines and lots of chrome.
The body has 35k miles; the engine and mechanicals about 5k miles. The body is pristine with no rust, bondo or accidents. The glass and stainless parts are excellent. The undercarriage is painted with POR15.
There are no mechanical issues; The engine runs cool and smooth. The car is always garaged and covered. The car has won many trophies ans has been shown in the Concours 3 times.
I have invested $45k in the car which is located in Hilton Head S.C.
Since I am getting on in years and don't use the car as much, it is time to sell this jewel to someone who will appreciate it.I doubt if you will ever see another like it.
