1974 Chevrolet Nova Description

This 1974 Chevrolet Nova has so much new work that buying it from us is like buying the car and getting the restoration for free. New paint, new interior, a detailed small block V8, and plenty of performance make this car a screaming bargain that simply won't last long on the showroom floor. We get lots of affordable cars here at Streetside Classics, but rarely are they so lopsided in the buyer's favor - this is a really nice car.The bright blue gray paint was taken from a late-model GM color chart and gives the vintage Nova a bright look that's right for the muscle car era. There's also a steel cowl-induction hood that looks better on the Nova than almost any other Chevy product of the time, and it all fits together quite well. It's affordable, so it isn't perfect, but a professional wet sand and buff would transform this fresh paint into a show-stopper without a big investment. We like the fact that they didn't go with the fake SS look, although the simple blacked-out grille is very attractive. Correct emblems were retained wherever needed, and the '350' emblem on the front fenders is earned honestly. The stainless is in good shape and both the front and rear bumpers are original, with the rear bumper starting to show its age and probably due for replacement just so it's up to the standards of the rest of the car. 99% of this this car really is as nice as it looks.Inside, virtually everything but the dash is new. Custom ProCar buckets look aggressive and racy in the relatively mild-mannered Nova, with the rear bench upholstered in blue fabric to give it a different look. An aftermarket console between the seats gives it an updated feel and gives you a place to put your elbow when you're not racking the gears on that B&M shifter. New black carpets duplicate the factory weave and texture and a taut headliner reinforces the fresh look. The usual trio of aftermarket dials hangs underneath, monitoring oil pressure, temperature, and voltage and there's a matching tach strapped to the steering column. Entertainment comes from an AM/FM/CD stereo system and the three-spoke Grant GT steering wheel has a cool vintage race car look. The trunk is solid and tidy, with spatter paint and a space-saver spare, just in case. The engine is a stout 355 cubic inch Chevy V8, and you can tell where the big money was spent on this Nova. Pared down to fighting weight, the nasty small block powerplant is enhanced with a set of aluminum heads, a full roller valvetrain, Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, and long-tube headers. With 10,000 miles on the build, it's still quite fresh and the lightweight Nova makes this small block feel incredibly strong. Power steering and power front disc brakes are reassuring on something this fast, and the fresh dual exhaust system has just the right growl. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission was just rebuilt with a 2800 RPM stall torque converter and there are 3.73 gears on a Posi out back. The gas tank, shocks, and all the lines underneath are new, too, so don't be afraid to drive it. Custom Torque Thrust-style wheels are fitted all around and wear fat blackwall radials for a no nonsense look.Inexpensive doesn't mean you have to do all the work yourself, and this Nova is a nicely finished performer that takes no prisoners.
