This car was delivered to SLC, Utah from the Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly plant with the following options: ZR1 Special Performance Package, dual removable roof panels, electronic air conditioning, blue removable roof panel. The ZR1 performance package included a 5.7L MPFI DOHC 32-valve V-8, special rear tires, aluminum wheels, specific rear fascia and taillights, performance handling package, specific body side panels, selective ride and handling package, leather adjustable sport seats, six-way driver and passenger power seats, low tire pressure warning, Delco-Bose Gold Series music system with CD and cassette player, solar glass.

Dressed in Bright Red, the car's fiberglass body panels are in very good condition, with only minor blemishes visible upon close inspection. The windows are clear and crack-free; the lights are in great shape, including the pop-up, revolving headlights. Car rides on P275/40ZR-17 tires in front and P315/35ZR-17 tires in back, surrounding factory styled aluminum wheels, 17×9.5 front and 17×11 in back. All body panels are straight, the engine bay is tidy and the batteryis new. The sheet-molded compound bumpers look as good as the rest of the car.

Inside, theblack interior is in excellent condition for its age with its sport bucket seats and matching carpet. The instrument panel is intact with a four-spoke steering wheel, complete with driver's side airbag. The door panels look good, as does the center console, with the gearshift that falls easily into your right hand. Rounding out the interior is a high end aftermarket CD receiver. Car's original Delco-Bose Gold audio system is boxed and in the cargo bay.

Thirty years ago, GM bought Group Lotus, the UK-based consulting, engineering and performance car builder. Corvette administrators approached Lotus with the idea of co-developing the World's Fastest Production Car based on the C4 Corvette.

The new partners designed a new engine to replace the L98 V-8 found under the standard Corvette's hood. Dubbed the LT5, it was an aluminum-block V-8 with identical bore centers to the L98 but with four overhead camshafts and 32 valves. The LT5 featured a unique air-management system to give a wider power band by closing half of the 16 intake runners and fuel injectors when the engine was at part-throttle. Upgraded steering and braking systems were also part of the package and Lotus helped Chevy choose the settings for the standard FX3 adjustable active ride control Chevrolet fitted to the car with its "Performance," "Sport" and "Touring" settings.

GM quickly found that the LT5 required special assembly; neither its Bowling Green plant nor any of its other assembly facilities could handle the work, so it contracted with Mercury Marine Corporation in Stillwater, Oklahoma to assemble the engines and ship them to Bowling Green.

The key way to ID a ZR-1 was from the rear; it sported a wider tail section than standard 'Vettes with a new, convex rear fascia that had four rectangular taillights and the car had 11”-wide rear wheels.

Documentation with this car includes original window sticker, odometer disclosure statement, copies of the vehicle invoice, copies of GM-to-dealer correspondence about the ZR-1, original Chevrolet Courtesy Key for lock-outs or other emergency uses.

This car is currently located in a climate controlled heated garage in Draper, Utah. Current mileage on the odometer shows27,388 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title.
