In 2001 the car had undergone a complete, professional rotisserie frame-off restoration at no expenses spared for a doctor in Hollywood Florida. Included with the sale is a restoration book with photos documenting the process. The doctor purchased a brand new Chevy Deluxe High Output 350 CID V-8 engine producing 330HP and a 700R automatic transmission with overdrive for the restoration.
Dressed in India Ivory over Gypsy Red, the car’s paint and trim, including its eggcrate grille, are in excellent order, as are its windows, which are clear and crack-free and the windshield is new. The car’s lights, including those jutting triangular taillamps, are clear and in one piece. The car rides on a stylish combination of Coker American Classic wide whitewall tires with full chrome baby moons and chrome steel wheels. All of the car’s body panels are straight and the gaps are very nice, the bumpers and chrome look excellent, the Dynamat insulated trunk looks great, the battery appears new and the engine bay is quite tidy. Driver convenience features include vintage air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes with front discs and bias control and tilt steering column.
Under the hood is the aforementioned 330HP High Output Chevy 350 V-8 engine breathing through performance headers and dual exhausts. The engine bay has many chromed parts, a heavy-duty radiator with electric cooling fan, polished 12V alternator, polished air cleaner and a polished air conditioning compressor. Buttoned to this engine is 700R automatic transmission with overdrive. Both the engine and transmission were purchased new in 2001 from Chevrolet. The car also features a new electrical system with a Dakota digital gauge cluster that is fully functional with digital tach, speedo, water temp, oil pressure, odo and voltage. The gorgeous original steering wheel was retained with the installation of the tilt column but the horn does not currently function.
The interior is period correct red and ivory, matching the exterior. The front and rear bench seats are in excellent order, have beige seating surfaces and the front has a storage console and dual cup holders. The red carpet is in very good order, as is the beige headliner but do have some light stains. The red metal instrument panel looks swell and is enhanced by a Dakota Digital Gauge Cluster. The original two-spoke steering wheel is present and is in very good order, while the inner door panels, with their color scheme echoing the rest of the interior, are nearly immaculate. The mirror glass and shift lever are in very good shape. Completing the inside is an aftermarket AM/FM stereo with cassette and a CD changer mounted in the trunk. The car features Pioneer speakers and the whole interior and trunk have been Dynamatted and gives this 210 a very smooth sounding ride!
The Chevrolet Two-Ten, or 210, was the midrange model of Chevrolet’s full-sized car from 1953 to 1957. It took its name by shortening the production series number (2100) by one digit in order to capitalize on the 1950s trend toward numerical auto names. The numerical designation '"210"' was also sporadically used in company literature. It replaced the Styleline DeLuxe model.
The '55 model year marks the introduction of a new chassis and the debut of the Chevrolet's legendary small block V8. The center doorframe was beefed up for more safety. The Two-Ten buyer was free to choose any powertrain option available. Ammeter and oil pressure gauges were changed to warning lights.
The '55 cars offered a wide array of colors. One solid color, which was standard for the 150, could be had for the 210 or Bel Air or 19 different two-tone color combinations were also available.
Documentation includes binder of restoration photos, 2003 appraisal records and more.
Competition to this Chevy in 1955 included Dodge’s Coronet Six Sedan, Ford’s Mainline Fordor, Hudson’s Wasp, Kaiser’s Manhattan and Nash’s Statesman.
This is great car to take the family and friends cruising on weekends, whisk the kids to get ice cream or to an amusement park or even use this car as a daily driver on nice days just like the doctor did who restored this car. This car was built to enjoy and worthy of winning trophies at all the car shows along the way!
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 34,289 miles since restoration. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
