1963 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe Description

I am selling a very nice 1963 Chevrolet Impala sport coupe 2 door hardtop. It is equipped as follows:
283 V8 ( with 4bbl carburetor and dual exhaust)
Power steering and brakes
Powerglide automatic transmission
Factory AM radio
Deluxe wheel discs
This is pretty much an original "survivor" 3 owner car. It has under 73,000 original miles. It has its original body panels, including floor and trunk. Not rusted out. Very solid! It has had one paint job many years (at least 25) ago. Paint is still shiny, body is nice and straight. Original interior is exceptionally nice, not ripped or torn. Chrome is also nice and bright, not pitted up. Looks nice in engine compartment. This is a well taken care of car that has NOT been butchered or "tricked out" with goofy big wheels and hydraulics etc.
The following has been done to this Impala:
1. 4 new radial whitewall tires (installed less than 200 miles ago)
2. Cooling system flushed and new anti-freeze
3. New belts and hoses
4. Rebuilt water pump
5. New fuel pump
6. Brakes, including master cylinder
7. Windshield wiper motor rebuilt
8. Updated intake and carburetor for better performance and reliability
9. Electronic ignition for same reasons
10. Full tune-up including wires, plugs, cap, rotor, etc.
This Impala is a lot of fun to drive! It has a great sound, is very smooth, very tight, and has good power. It was driven on a 200 plus mile trip a couple weeks ago with no issues. I would not hesitate to get in it and drive anywhere. Always starts up and doesn't make any funny noises or smoke etc. Here are the few things I noticed that a person might want to do to the car, depending on how fussy you are:
1. Gas gauge is finicky, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. My guess would be a bad ground, or possible sending unit (both inexpensive fixes).
2. As shown in close-up photo, the body side molding piece of trim on the left rear quarter has some minor parking lot damage at its very end. I have seen good used moldings here on Ebay for $60 to $95, or new reproduction piece costs about $150 to $175, depending on vendor.
3. Previous owner installed carpeting in part of trunk. You can see that original splatter paint is still there. New owner may wish to remove carpeting and purchase correct reproduction trunk mat material.
4. Like most cars from the 1950's and1960's, this one is somewhat "cold blooded" when you first start it until it warms up for a few minutes. Not like today's fuel injected cars.
5. Clock in dash does not work (probably stopped when car was 6 months old, they were notoriously unreliable).
Other than what I mentioned, as far as I know, everything else works fine, including radio, heat/defrost, wipers, directionals, horn, parking brake, warning lights, etc. Windows roll up and down easily. While certainly not a concours 100 point show car, this is a great driving and fun car that will give you lots of fun cruising, going to shows, or just nice transportation. Parts are readily available for these older Chevys and very affordable. Best of all, these cars are simple, very straightforward and easy to work on.
Car is very clean in, under, and out! Here's a nice car you can enjoy right away for the price of an average "throwaway" late model used car! Don't miss it!
VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: For cars 1972 and older, New York is a non-title state. The proof of ownership on cars of this vintage is a transferable NY registration. If you purchase the car, you will get the registration, transfer, and bill of sale. States are supposed to have reciprocity and honor this paperwork. If you are from out of state, it is up to you to check and make sure before you bid.
About me: I have been a vintage car hobbyist for over 40 years! I favor nice original, stock or "survivor" cars from the late 1950's to early 1970's. I have a modest collection and will sometimes sell a car to make room for a new acquisition. I am located in upstate New York, about mid way between Albany and Utica, about 25 minutes from I-90 (NYS Thruway).
Please call with any questions or concerns. Landline is 518-604-4181. Cell is 704-661-1326. NOTE: Cell does not work when I am home, no towers nearby. Best to call both and leave word at both.
Now for the rules:
1. Your bid is a contract! Please have you money in place, get permission from your significant other, and all other contingencies handled BEFORE YOU BID. If you bid, you are expected to pay and complete the transaction.
2. A NON REFUNDABLE $500 deposit must be paid through Pay Pal immediately with BUY IT NOW. Balance is due within 7 days of purchase and must be cash, bank wire transfer (preferred), or certified funds.
3. Car and ownership documents will not leave here until paid in full with collected cleared funds.
4. Car is sold AS/IS, no warranty at my location. Transportation is your responsibility as buyer. I will help you all I can but it is still your responsibility to arrange transportation.
5. Car can remain here for a reasonable amount of time, but still must be paid for within 7 days. Also, upon buying, you should secure insurance as I cannot be responsible for things beyond my control or acts of God.
6. If you are an international buyer, you must still pay the $500 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT and balance is due in US funds by wire transfer within 7 days.
7. Again, car is located in upstate New York. This state does not issue titles for cars 1972 and older. You will receive a transferable NY registration, plus ownership assignment/bill of sale. Please be sure this is OK with your state BEFORE you commit to buy.
8. Please ask and get satisfactory answers to all questions BEFORE YOU BID! You can call me at: Landline 518-604-4181 OR Cell 704-661-1326. NO TEXTS! Please realize that cell does not work at my home, so best to call both and leave word at both.
9. If you have questions, it is best to call. I am away from my computer a lot, and often don't have time for lengthy e-mails, especially if there are several questions to be answered. I am not a technology person.
I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of people who don't pay attention spoil things for the 95% who are good. Thanks for looking!
