1969 Chevrolet C-10 NICE ORIGINAL PATINA SHORTBED! Description

LOW RESERVE!! ON THIS 1969 C-10 SHORTBED STEPSIDE.AUCTION ENDS FRIDAY AUGUST 4TH @ 7:00PM PST THIS HAS BEEN A DRY EASTERN WASHINGTON TRUCK IT'S WHOLE LIFE. THIS IS A 3 OWNER TRUCK THAT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED BY YAKIMA COUNTY AS A INSPECTORS TRUCK AND SERVICED AS A GOVERNMENT TRUCK FOR OVER TWO DECADES. THIS TRUCK HAS HAD ONE REPAINT IN IT'S ORIGINAL HUGGER ORANGE COLOR BY THE STATE OF WASHINGTON WHEN IT WAS SOLD IN THE EARLY 90'S. THE HOT AND DRY EASTERN WA WEATHER HAS AGED AND FADED THAT SECOND PAINT JOB ALONG WITH ANOTHER 20+ YEARS OF USE TO GIVE IT THIS GREAT AGED PATINA LOOK THAT NOW LOOKS LIKE NEARLY 50 YEAR OLD ORIGINAL PAINT. BESIDES YOUR TYPICAL C10 ROCKER AND REAR CAB CORNER ISSUES THIS TRUCK HAS A GREAT PATINA LOOK AND IS THE PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR THAT DROPPED SHOP TRUCK LOOK. IT HAS A KILLER LOOK ABOUT IT THAT JUST TELLS IT'S 48 YEAR OLD STORY SITTING STILL WITH IT'S BEAUTIFUL PATINA WITH SLIGHT WEAR AND AGING IN THE PAINT OF THE ROOF, HOOD, TOP OF REAR FENDERS AND PANEL EDGES. THIS LITTLE ORANGE BEAUTY IS A RUNNER AND DRIVER WITH IT'S ORIGINAL IN LINE 6 CYLINDER MOTOR AND IS BEGGING TO BE DROPPED AND THE ENGINE BAY FILLED WITH A STOUT V8 POWER PLANT. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE 100 DETAILED PICS AND THE VIDEO! WE ARE ALWAYS ON THE HUNT FOR CLEAN CLASSICS BUT ESPECIALLY ORIGINAL SURVIVORS AND CLASSIC TRUCKS, SO THIS TRUCK BEING THE PERFECT COMBO OF THE TWO WE HAD TO HAVE IT. THAT OF COURSE IS ALSO MY DOWN FALL AND SOMETIMES I GET GET EXCITED IN THE VISION OF WHAT SOME OF THESE WEATHERED CLASSICS CAN BE WITH A LITTLE WORK AND JUST WANT TO BREATHE THAT NEW LIFE INTO THEM, BUT IT ALSO CAN OFTEN BE CALLED A PROBLEM OR CAR HORDING :) SO WITH FUTURE PLANS ON LARGER PERSONAL PROJECTS I'VE REALIZED I HAVE TO THIN THE HERD ON MY STASH OF SOME VEHICLES AND RESTORATION PROJECT TRUCKS, SO YOU MAY SEE A FEW GREAT CANDIDATES FILTER OUT HERE AND THERE IN THE HIGHBOY, C10 AND IH SCOUT DEPARTMENT (MY THREE SOFT SPOTS). IF I DIDN'T ALREADY HAVE AN IDENTICAL PATINAED & DROPPED WHITE 68 STEPSIDE SHOP TRUCK I'D BE KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MY PARTS RUNNER. MY INITIAL PLANS AND VISION FOR THIS TRUCK AND STILL IS IF THE RESERVE IS NOT MET IS TO FIX THE RUSTED AREAS IN THE CAB WITH NEW PARTS FROM BROTHERS TRUCK PARTS, FIX THE TRANS TUNNEL FROM THE PREVIOUS CONVERSION TO FLOOR SHIFT, NEW OEM STYLE VINYL FLOOR MAT, RESTORED STOCK LOOKING SEAT, REPLACE THE DASH PAD AND KEEP THE REST OF THE INTERIOR AS-IS. NEXT I WAS GOING TO DO A 5 LUG CONVERSION, DISC BRAKES, A SIMPLE SMALL BLOCK TRANSPLANT RESTORED TO LOOK LIKE 1969 OFF THE LOT FRESH, ADD A NICE TH350 TRANS, DO A SIMPLE STATIC 4/6 SUSPENSION DROP. THEN LASTLY ON THE OUTSIDE I WAS GONNA SWAP THE BUMPERS AND GRILLE WITH SOME NICER ORIGINAL PIECES, LAY A SIMPLE, BUT STRONG WOOD FLOOR DOWN, BLEND THE PAINT WITH SOME HUGGER ORANGE AND A SATIN CLEAR TO MATCH THE CURRENT PAINT THEN LASTLY ADD SOME NEW TIRES ON THE SAME CAPS AND WHEEL EXCEPT ADD SOME 15X8'S IN THE REAR AND SOME FAT TIRES. IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE PATINA OR WHAT SOME CALL THE SHOP TRUCK LOOK YOU KNOW THIS TRUCK IS THAT PERFECT PLATFORM AND THE LOWER RUSTED AREAS CAN BE BLENDED IN VERY EASILY EVEN OUT OF A SPRAY CAN SINCE PERFECTION IS NOT THIS TRUCK AND MINOR PAINT FLAWS WILL FALL RIGHT IN WITH THE REST OF THIS TRUCK. I HAVE THROWN A COUPLE PICS IN OF A COUPLE TRUCKS THAT STARTED LIFE VERY CLOSE TO THIS 69 AND NOW LOOK BEAUTIFUL WITH A KILLER STANCE. DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF COLLECTOR YOU ARE AND WHAT TYPE OF CONDITION YOU PREFER IN A TRUCK THIS THIS SWEET LITTLE STEP-SIDE SHORTY WITH A LITTLE BIT OF WORK ROCKER AND CAB CORNER CAN HONESTLY BE LEFT ASCETICALLY AS-IS AND DRIVEN FOR YEARS AND YEARS JUST AS IT HAS, BUT I COULDN'T IMAGINE A MORE HONEST OR DESERVING CANDIDATE FOR A PARTIAL SYMPATHETIC RESTORATION TO A FULL FRAME OFF BUILD AS IT IS A TRUE ORIGINAL AND ICONIC CULT CLASSIC!!! THIS TRUCK HAS A 5 DIGIT ODOMETER THAT SHOWS 58,234 AND ROLLS OVER AT 100K, SO I ASSUMED IT ROLLED OVER AT LEAST ONCE, BUT HAVE NO IDEA OF THE TRUE MILES. IT IS EXEMPT AND WILL SAY THAT ON THE PURCHASE ORDER. PLEASE READ FURTHER AND WATCH THE VIDEOS TO GET THE BEST IDEA OF THIS BEAUTY.

BODY- THESE 67-72 GM C-10'S HAVE THE BEST BODY LINES THAT ALLOW THEM SELVES TO BE THE CANVAS FOR SO MANY DIFFERENT VISIONS OF CUSTOMIZATION. IN THAT 6 YEAR RUN THEY ONLY HAD VERY SUBTLE CHANGES AND FROM THE DOORS BACK WERE BASICALLY ALL THE SAME AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN CONSIDERED TO BE ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING TRUCKS EVER PRODUCED IF NOT THE BEST LOOKING ONE, WHICH IS WHY THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER AND IN DEMAND TRUCK OF ANY YEAR OR MAKE OF TRUCKS. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER WHERE YOU COME FROM, WHAT AGE YOU ARE AND IF YOU ARE A CAR PERSON OR NOT, BUT YOU WILL ALWAYS LIKE THE LOOK OF A 2ND GEN C10. THE AFTERMARKET INDUSTRY AND INTERNET IS FLOODED WITH COMPANIES THAT BUILD ANY REPLACEMENT RESTORATION PART OR THERE IS A HUGE AMOUNT OF CUSTOM PARTS AVAILABLE. THE BODYON THIS TRUCK IS TRULY WHATDREW ME IN AND THE MOST INCREDIBLE PART OF THIS TRUCK. I AM AN ORIGINAL LOOK PATINA GUY AS THESE VEHICLES IMPRESS ME TO MAKE IT SO MANY DECADES AND EXPRESS SO MUCH CHARACTER THAT SEPARATES EACH TRUCK BY WHAT IT HAS EXPERIENCED IN LIFE. YOU MAY GET A BARN FIND ORIGINAL PAINT TRUCK THAT ONLY SAW MINOR HOUSEHOLD USE AND HAS MINOR SCRATCHES AND FADING OR YOU GET A TRUCK LIKE THIS THAT HAD IT'S PURPOSE FROM DAY ONE TO BE USED, WORKED AND BASICALLY WAS JUST A TOOL TO THE OWNER AND IT HAS SOME BUMPS, MARKS AND SCUFFS AND TELLS A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY AND LOOKS JUST AS COOL TO KNOW IT MADE IT THROUGH ALL THAT TO FINALLY BE HERE TODAY AND APPRECIATED. WHEN I START TO TEAR INTO A TRUCK LIKE THIS I ALWAYS ENJOY THE FEELING OF FINALLY PUTTING SOME LOVE BACK INTO THE TRUCK AND KNOWING SOON IT MAY WEAR THE SAME SKIN IT HAS FOR 40 YEARS, BUT ALL THE BONES AND HEART WILL BE BRAND NEW AGAIN TO TAKE THIS ORIGINAL TRUCK ANOTHER 40 YEARS. AS MENTIONED ABOVE THIS TRUCK PRESENTS AND LOOKS LIKE A ORIGINAL PAINT TRUCK, BUT A LONG TIME AGO WHEN IT WAS SOLD OFF FROM YAKIMA COUNTY IT WAS REPAINTED, SO IN SOME AREAS NEAR THE EDGES OF A PANEL OR WHERE THE PAINT MAY HAVE BEEN SCRATCHED OR SCUFFED IT REVEALS THE ORIGINAL PAINT BELOW. THE PAINT STILL HAS ALL THE RIGHT LOOK AND AGE MOST OF US ARE LOOKING FOR ON A SURVIVOR TO DRIVE AS IS OR TO CUSTOMIZE INTO THAT DROPPED SHOP TRUCK BUILD. IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL EQUALLY AGED PAINT THAT NOW HAS A KILLER FADED SEMI GLOSS/ EGG SHELL TYPE LOOK, BUT I THREW A LITTLE COMPOUND ON THE OLD LACQUER PAINT OF THE TAIL GATE AND SHE STILL HAS SOME SHINE LEFT IN HER IF YOU WERE WILLING TO GIVE IT THE TIME AND LOVE. THIS HAS A VERY SOLID BODY BESIDES THE OBVIOUS AND ABOVE MENTIONED LOWER REAR CAB CORNERS, ROCKERS AND THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR PANS HAVE BEEN PATCHED AND DO FINE FOR NOW, SO THERE IS NO BIG UNSIGHTLY HOLES TO LOOK AT. AMAZINGLY THE HOOD, INNER FENDERS, CORE SUPPORT, FENDERS, TOP OF CAB, FIREWALL, COWL AREA, DOORS OR ANY PART OF THE BED DO NOT HAVE ANY CANCER. YOU WILL GET SURFACE RUST FROM YEARS OF USE, WEAR AND WORN PAINT, BUT IT IS SOLID AS IT GETS. EVEN THE RAIN GUTTER AREA OF THE CAB IS NICE AND CLEAN. THE DOORS SHUT NICE AND SMOOTH WITH NO DOOR SAG OR HINGE ISSUE, BUT THE PASSENGER OUTER DOOR HANDLE HAS THAT TYPICAL C10 DOOR HANDLE ISSUE WHERE THE THUMB PUSH PIECE HAS COME DISCONNECTED. LITTLE THINGS TO ME LIKE THE ORIGINAL HUB CAPS STILL BEING ON AFTER 48 YEARS, BESIDES THE WINDSHIELD ALL GLASS IS ORIGINAL AND IN GREAT SHAPE WITH SMOOTH MOVING AND LOCKING FLY WINDOWS, THE MIRRORS BEING ORIGINAL WITH NO BIG HOLES DRILLED IN THE DOORS ARE THINGS I PAY ATTENTION TO AND ARE WHAT CATCH MY EYE BECAUSE TO ME IT SHOWS THE ORIGINAL HONESTY OF THE TRUCK AND TELLS ME HOW THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN TREATED AND OWNED FOR NEARLY 50 YEARS. THE WOOD IN THE TAIL GATE IS DUE FOR REPLACEMENT, ALL THE EXTERIOR RUBBERS AND SEALS ARE DRY AND DUE FOR REPLACEMENT, BUT I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS TRUCK LEAK WATER INSIDE. THERE IS A CREASE ON THE LOWER PART OF THE DRIVER DOOR, THERE WAS ONCE A LIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE CAB FROM WHEN IT SAW COUNTY DUTY, THE FRONT GRILLE HAS SOME DENTS ALONG WITH THE REAR TAILGATE AND ALL THE PLASTIC LIGHT LENSES ARE FADED AND HAVE AN AGED LOOK, BUT TO ME FIT RIGHT IN WITH THE TRUCK. THIS CLASSIC CLEARLY SHOWS IT'S AGE WITH 48 YEARS UNDER IT'S BELT, BUT IT IS ONE THING TO HAVE AGE AND PATINA, BUT TO HAVE THE APPEALING LOOKING PATINA IN ALL THE RIGHT SPOTS LIKE THIS TRUCK IS HARD TO FIND AND IT IS TRULY A ONE OF A KIND TRUCK THAT ADDS THE DESIRE AD VALUE OF THIS TRUCK!

INTERIOR-INSIDE IT IS ALL ORIGINAL AND OBVIOUSLY HAS SEEN SOME AGE AND WEAR, BUT AS MENTIONED ABOVE THERE ARE A TON OF PLACES LIKE BROTHERS TRUCK PARTS, ORIGINAL PARTS GROUP AND LMC TRUCK THAT SELL ANY AND ALL PARTS FOR THIS TRUCK AND ARE VERY AFFORDABLE. WITH A NEW VINYL FLOOR MAT OR CARPET, REPLACED DASH PAD, REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL, RESTORED SEAT COVER AND NEW DOOR SEALS THIS INTERIOR WOULD LOOK INCREDIBLE AND RUN UNDER $600. IF YOU WANTED TO TAKE IT A STEP FURTHER WITH NEW GAUGES, DOOR FELTS, SEAT BELTS AND MAYBE NEW SWITCH KNOBS IT WOULD RUN ANOTHER 500-700 DEPENDING ON YOUR GAUGE PACKAGE YOU CHOSE. THE DOORS BOTH LOCK PROPERLY, OPEN EASILY FROM THE INSIDE, SIDE GLASS ROLLS DOWN SMOOTHLY, WING WINDOWS OPEN AND LOCK GOOD, THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND WIPERS WORK AND AMAZINGLY THE CARD BOARD GLOVE BOX LINER IS IN PLACE SHOWING THIS HAS BEEN A DRY TRUCK AND THE ORIGINAL RADIO DELETE PLATE IS STILL INTACT. THE ORIGINAL VINYL FLOOR MAT IS STILL WITH THE TRUCK BUT IN SEVERAL PIECES, THE SEAT AS SEEN NEEDS A NEW COVER, THE GAUGES ARE SUN FADED AND THE DASH PAD IS CRACKED. THIS TRUCK WAS A 3 ON THE TREE TRUCK AND WHEN CONVERTED TO A 4 SPEED ON THE FLOOR THEY USED A TRANS TUNED FROM A 4WD, WHICH CAN FETCH SOME GOOD MONEY SO I WOULD JUST SELL IT OFF AND PUT A PROPER NEW PIECE IN SINCE THEY ARE SO AFFORDABLE. MECHANICAL- THIS 69 IS PRETTY MUCH ALL ORIGINAL DRIVE TRAIN BESIDES THE TRANSMISSION SWAP FROM A 3 SPEED TO A MANUAL 4-SPEED. ALL OF OUR TRUCKS WE HAVE STORED FOR FUTURE WORK OR BUILDS ARE STARTED AND RAN EVERY TWO WEEKS WITH A SHORT DRIVE TO KEEP THE BLOOD PUMPING IN THEM AND FRESH FUEL. THIS LITTLE C10 ALWAYS FIRES UP NO MATTER HOW LONG IT SITS WITH NO BATTERY DRAW AND HAS A MANUAL CHOKE. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN THIS TRUCK FOR REAL LONG PERIODS OF TIME AND HAVEN'T HAD IT OVER 50 MPH, BUT IT DRIVES DOWN THE ROAD, SHIFTS THROUGH ALL 4 GEARS AND INTO REVERSE NICELY, NO CLUTCH SLIPPING AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL FEELS LIKE IT SHOULD. IT HAS MANUAL STEERING AND HAS A LITTLE BIT OF FREE PLAY IN THE WHEEL. THERE IS NO COOLING ISSUES AND THE MANUAL BRAKES STOP SMOOTH AND STRAIGHT WITH NICE PEDAL PRESSURE. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL 250 IN LINE 6 CYLINDER THAT RUNS SMOOTH, BUT DOES IDLE A LITTLE HIGH AND HAS PLENTY OF POWER AND PULLS STRONG FOR WHAT IT IS, BUT IT IS A LITTLE UGLY WITH OLD SEALS AND GREASE STACKED ON IT AND IT DOES SMOKE AT TIMES. THE MORE YOU DRIVE IT THE LESS IT SMOKES, SO IF YOU DRIVE IT REGULARLY IT'S NOT AS MUCH OF A PROBLEM. IT IS MOSTLY NOTICEABLE IF ITS SAT FOR A WHILE OR WHEN SITTING FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME AT IDLE. AT HIGHER SPEEDS IT'S NOT EVEN NOTICEABLE, BUT THIS AND ANY OTHER MECHANICAL ISSUE WAS NEVER A CONCERN AND I JUST WANTED THEM TO DO THEIR JOB DEPENDABLY UNTIL WE COULD TEAR IT DOWN AND REPLACE THE MOTOR, TRANS, SUSPENSION AND BRAKES. THE REAR-END AND ALL OTHER BIG MECHANICAL ITEMS SEEM TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE WITH NO KNOCKS OR TICKING COMING FROM THE MOTOR AND NO HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISES COME FROM THE REAR-END OR TRANS. YOU CAN FEEL THIS IS A HEAVY OLD TRUCK WHEN YOU DIVE INTO CORNERS TOO HOT OR MAKE ERRATIC MOVES SO THE SHOCKS ARE PROBABLY VERY OLD AND THE TIRES ARE OLD RIDE A LITTLE ROUGH THAT SEEM TO SMOOTH OUT AFTER BEING ON THE ROAD A WHILE, BUT AGAIN TO MOST OF US THOSE ITEM WERE GONNA BE TOSSED OUT ANYWAY. THIS TRUCK DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY BIG FLUID LEAKS AND THERE ARE NO EXHAUST LEAKS SO, ANY OF THE MINOR SMOKING GOES RIGHT OUT THE TAIL PIPE AND YOU DO NOT SMELL THAT OIL BURNING SMELL INSIDE EVEN AT IDLE. THIS ACTUALLY HAS BEEN A DEPENDABLE FIRING UP TRUCK AROUND THE SHOP FOR US THE LAST YEAR WE HAVE HAD IT AND WE HAVE USED IT AS THE BATTERY HAULER, TIRE SWAPPING RIG AND JUMPER TRUCK. WE ALWAYS RUN NO RESERVE, BUT THIS ONE I HAVE TO PUT A RESERVE ON BECAUSE IT WILL BE SAD TO SEE THIS TRUCK GO AS I HAVE HAD A VISION OF WHAT WAS GONNA HAVE THIS TRUCK LAID OUT AS FOR SO LONG AND IF THIS ONE DOESN'T SELL IT WILL JUST KEEP BEING OUR LITTLE WORKER AND WAITING FOR HER TIME TO COME INSIDE FOR SOME LOVE, A FACE LIFT AND A HEART TRANSPLANT, BUT WE HOPE IT GOES TO A LOVING AND APPRECIATED HOME THAT CAN BRING THAT TO HER SOONER THEN I CAN! BID TO OWN WITH LOW RESERVE!WHILE I KNOW EVERYONE'S OPINION IS DIFFERENT THIS TRUCK TO ME IS EVERYTHING AN OLD TRUCK SHOULD BE, WHILE IT HAS SOME MINOR FLAWS SHOWING ITS JOURNEY AND STORY, IT DOESN'T ACT LIKE A MODERN TRUCK BUT IT STOPS PEOPLE, GETS COMPLIMENTS AND STARTS CONVERSATIONS WITH STRANGERS . THIS TRUCK FULLFILS THAT OLD TRUCK NEED AND FEELING MOST ARE LOOKING FO, BUT IF YOU HAVE NOT EVER OWNED OR DRIVEN A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO SIMPLY LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF MODERN INVENTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED SINCE THIS TRUCK WAS BORN AND HOW FAR OTHER ITEMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER THE PAST FEW DECADES AND KEEP IN MIND NEW VEHICLES HAVE THE BOXES TO CHECK FOR COMFORT OPTIONS LIKE LEATHER, HEATED SEATS, NAVIGATION ETC AND VEHICLES OF THIS ERA LOADED MEANT GETTING POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, A BASIC AM STEREO AND A SPARE TIRE :) THIS MAY HELP TO AIM YOUR EXPECTATIONS ON OWNING A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE. The older the car, the harder it is to define the condition of the vehicle. Most of our vehicles are specialty vehicles or are 15+ years old, and usually trucks. Because of this, it is very difficult to describe each vehicle to everyone’s satisfaction. Based on the bidder's personal experience, some bidders will be overly pleased with my description and pictures, and others may feel that I fell short. I post these auctions based on how I want to see auctions when I’m buying, keeping in mind what I look for, and I try to put your eye's to what I can see and touch. Please help me by asking all questions and letting me know if other pictures are wanted. If you do not see a pic or description of a item or a area on the truck please do not assume anything and ask me about the specifics your a needing or for more pics and i will post every question asked by members so all potential bidders can see. Every car is available for inspection and i personally drive each vehicle before listing it and If anything does not work properly I will let you know. Of course I am only human and these are mechanical creatures and these are used vehicles, so please keep this in mind when bidding.
