1962 Corvette VIN 20867S111881CA. This is a matching numbers car. Exceptionally solid driver that purrs like a kitten. This car was originally white and was painted black in about 1971 when my uncle purchased. Paint looks better than my brand new truck! There have been only two owners. The vehicle has been covered on blocks in a garage for the past 40 years and owned by my uncle for 45 years. It is a true barn find. The car was registered non op and has not had a year sticker put on it since 1971. Exterior is black, interior is black and hard top is black (also has white softtop as original color was white). POWER WINDOWS work great and are original. Four speed manual and 327ci/300hp. Odometer reading 99,800 which is quite cool since odometer has not yet flipped. Wonderbar radio, clock and all gauges in working order except fuel gauge always says full = ) All dash lights work perfect. This is an exceptionally sound corvette and is a true investment. Car is in Roseville, CA (Sacramento area).
The subtle and easy changes to take back to completely original are as follows:
The corvette has six tail lights that look so cool. The change was made when my uncle painted. This is a conversion that was mentioned in the old Jan and Dean Song "Dead Mans Curve" It also has headers with 3 inch straight pipes "sounds amazing" There are also ladder bars. Not hard to change any of this stuff back.
Since the vehicle has been sitting so long, a few thing were done a few weeks back. The oil and filter were changed, rear end fluid changed, transmission fluid changed, coolant flushed and new radiator installed. Bushings on sway bar were changed, new headlights, all new locks and keys, brand new tires wheels and hubcaps put new license plate bracket on. Both plates are original and was the first year for black and yellow. New air filter, new badges and new truck liner.
I have owned the car for about 2 months which was obtained through family. All I did was take the car to a very reputable shop to have those items done prior to starting it. The little mats, logos and wheels just kinda clean it up.
Hard top windows should be changed due to spider web appearance on glass/plastic. I was gonna do it but haven't. This car is nothing short of amazing to drive. I love it but does not fit in my family right now! Must go to new home.
