1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Description

For Sale is this very very nice 1970Chevrolet Chevelle SS Sport Coupe that is Documented with the "Original Build Sheet" that is still attached to the back of the old door panel that came off the car. Please see photo of the red door panel front side and back where the build sheet is clued at the factory.I do not know why theyreplaced the door panels during restoration and did notput new SS doorlogos on them, you cansee where the originals were located on thepanelswhen the car was new.I have these ordered from Ecklers and they will be put on before the car leaves our building.

Please read the entire description as I know it is a lot of information. I purchased this car from the estate of a friend that had passed away.

I have included photos of the cowl tag that match perfectly with the way you see the car and the build sheet .

Builtat the Lakewood, Ga. assembly plant (Atlanta )during the 3rd week of October 1969 for the 1970model year. Build date 10C .Early built Chevelle, Vin 136370A103853. The 3853rd car built. Body build codes on the cowl tag AT ( Atlanta ) 03271 match build sheet, codes 022238 match build sheet, vin number matches build sheet, color codes match, etc. etc.

Sold new at City Chevrolet Co. ( Days of Thunder movie fame ) in Charlotte, North Carolina

I do like thatthis is arare color combination and one you don't see often, makes a very pretty car to me! Factory colors are (10 code)Classic White, (B code) Black Vinyl Top, (787 code) Red Vinyl Bench Seat Interior, with (B code) Black SS stripes.

Engine is 396 ( actually they were 402 ) cast number 3969854 for 1970 year model, Engine stamp is CTW which is correct for an automatic transmission SS equipped car. Engine pad stamp is T0414CTW / 10A160438, this engine also came in a car built at Lakewood, Georgia just not the original block, not sure what happened to the original. The owner before me installed a aluminum intake, new carburetor, and very nice exhaust headers. Car runs and drives very well.

The Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission is the original, see photo of vin taken before we had it totally rebuilt and cleaned.

The Rear Axle Assembly as you know have no vin's. This is 99.9% the original, dated CCW 0929B, see photo. CCW is 3:31 ratio matching build sheet. 9th production month is Septembe, and the 29 day.

Options are :

This is a factory Air Conditioning car, the owner replaced some of the components withup dated ones. Air Conditioning is working and coolsvery good.

GM Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission that has been rebuilt and shifts perfect.

Power Steering

Power Brakes

12 BoltGM Rear End Assembly

Aftermarket Stereo AM + FM Radio with CD player has been installed

Correct 14" SS Super Stock wheels are in place,spare tire with correct mat are in trunk. I don't have a jack assembly.

We serviced this car, made adjustments that it needed. All lights work, turn signals, back up lights.All chrome, bumpers, glass, etc. are very nice. Painton this car has no chips, dents, dings of any kind. Paint is 9 on a 10 scale. Interior is mostly new and yes the headliner is red. Engine is highly detailed. Vinyl Top is very nice also.

See photo of the bottom of this car. We pressured washed the bottom of this car and took some of the factory blackand 47 years of dust and dirt off so you can see how original and rust free the floor pans are. Frame is rust free also. I do not know if every piece is original metal. I have not owned this car since new.

This "Authentic" and "Documented" 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS was restored to be an investment, fun to drive,taken to shows, and enjoyed!

This Chevelle SS is registered and tagged in my personal name in the State of Alabama. The new owner will receive all paper work to have it transferred into his or her name once funds clear.

I do not have any more photos I can send. I am located 2 miles from the Mobile, Alabama regional airport ( callsign MOB )so with an appointment if you want to come and inspect this car I can pickyou up, let you inspect it, take you back if you choose to do that. Please do not wait till the last minute to do this as I cannot hold this car.
