1964 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Description
FOR SALE: A very nice 1964 Corvette Convertible, 327-300HP (originally), now has a "period correct" looking 1967 327 motor, engine stamp is TO 427 KL, casting number #3903352. Transmission is its original Muncie 4 spd. with the cars vin number still stamped on the side of the trans. Rear end is original to the car, coded CB (3:36.1 possi) Dated 7-3-64 (July 3rd 1964). This is a factory BLACK Corvette coded #900 (see pic. of trim tag), with factory RED interior (believed to be all original), code #490 The body on this car is in excellent shape, basicly a unhit car, has one very minor spot on the left rear upper corner that was repaired at one time. It is the size of a silver dollar. Very good repair, NOT visible from the outside, only can be seen with a flashlight from the underside, (even that is hard to see as there is very limited eyesight because of the muffler). I have the "Shipping Data Report" from N.C.R.S. on the car. Here is that info: The GM official Production date was 7-10-1964 (July 10th 1964), The Original selling dealer was dealer code #593 Zone 36. The name and location of the Dealer was: Smith Chevrolet in Idaho Falls, Idaho. A copy of this report will come with the paperwork for the car. My cousin lives in NEW MEXICO, and he found this Corvette for me. It has lived most of its live in the super dry desert of Albuquerque New Mexico. It has a SUPER SOLID FRAME and bird cage, NO RUST! Beautiful rock solid frame with just some road grime/dirt. (see pics! it is that solid!). Car runs and drives very good, I just got back from "HOT AUGUST NIGHTS" collector car event in reno nevada. Car ran great and was a lot of fun! I live in the portland oregon area (sea level), had to make some carb adjustments in reno as it did not like the 4200 foot altitude. Car ran good, temp gauge started to climb in heavy traffic (very common for old corvettes) but it never over heated and never acted too hot (have been told that the temp senders sold today are not calibrated correctly for the old original gauges and read about 20 degrees hotter than they should. ODO shows 30,483. and is believed to be original, but I have no documentation of that so we will have to assume it is 130,483. (??). Basicly everything works on the car, even the clock and radio (radio works great and better than most mid-years(1963-1967) (for you young people) that I have been around!). This is a very nice very original car with full matching #s drive train(except motor being a 1967 327 instead of a 1964 327 but is period correct looking), very rare color combo. has a very nice black convertible top with a clear back window! As I said before this car lived most of its life in the hot high desert of New Mexico, so with the "heat"/"sun" of the desert the paint had its share of heat cracks, known as "lacquer checking" when I got it. We repainted the areas that needed the most attention. Painted the hood, entire hood surround, left and right tops of doors. Is it perfect? NO. But it is very shinny and actually looks very good. (Have picture of the "before" paint that I can send to you if wanted or need).Got lots of compliments on it at Hot Aug. Nights. There are still some "minor" checking in a few other areas (see pics.). With all that being said, it is SOLD AS IS! As it is still a 53 year old corvette. BUTTTT it is NOT a pieced together body or a rusty frame replacement corvette from back east. This corvette is ROCK SOLID WITH A GREAT UNHIT BODY. Nice neat old Corvette! These do not come along that often. Do not miss out!!!
