1957 Chevrolet Belair Convertible Paint / Body: The paint on this vehicle is called "Harbor Blue Poly". You don't see many '57 Belairs with this color. The factory '57 paint code is "796". The vehicle received a "Body-Off" (Frame-Off) restoration about twenty-five years ago. This high end paint job is holding up very well. It still looks great with no orange peel, checking, or fading. During the frame-off restoration, the body was properly stripped, primed, block sanded, and prepared for painting. Any body repairs were done correctly with metal. The vehicle still retains its original quarter panels and floor pans which only needed one small patch. The owner has a photo album with all the pictures during the restoration. Looking down the sides, the vehicle is very straight and true. The body panel alignment and gaps are great. The vehicle received all new weatherstripping on the doors and trunk. The car is fitted with a set of rear "Fender Skirts". These steel skirts are painted to match the car and come with the correct rubber seals and stainless stone guard trim.
Convertible Top: The white convertible top was new 25 years ago. It has no holes or rips. The plastic rear window is a different story. It is yellowed and in bad shape. The cloth material that holds the zipper for the rear window is ripping and is dry rotted. It should be replace and I'm not sure if you can only replaced the rear window area without replacing the whole top. The power top motor is still original and is working. (It's slow, but it works.) 99% of the time, the owner has the top down and the light blue convertible boot installed. The snap on boot is in great condition without any rips, marks or other problems.
Chrome / Trim: All of the exterior and interior chrome pieces are in very good condition. Most have been either replaced or re-chromed. (The owner was trying to keep as much of the original pieces as possible.) The bumpers were rechromed and are straight and true with a deep shine. They are aligned and fitted to the body very nicely without any uneven gaps. The black rubber bullets on the front bumper are in great condition. The dual mirrors, door handles, taillights and headlight bezels look great. (Some very minor pitting on the original headlight bezels and hood bullets.) The stainless steel trim has been straighened and buffed. The aluminum side Belair inserts panels where new and in great shape with no dings or scratches. The golden Belair grille is in near perfect condition. All of the correct emblems are in great condition with no signs of wear. Modern style headlights were installed to give it a little different look. (The stock headlights will also go along with the car.)
Interior: The interior is in excellent shape. It is the correct "679" coded Light Blue vinyl w/Medium Blue pattern vinyl. During the restoration, everything was replaced or gone over and reconditioned. New carpeting, seats, and door panels. The factory instrument cluster looks great. All of the interior trim pieces are also very nice. The chrome knobs, door handles and dash parts do not show any pitting or problems. The factory steering wheel is in great shape with only a chip or two. The chrome center piece and horn ring are very nice. The electric wipers, lights, gauges, horns, speedometer, odometer, along with an AM/FM radio hidden in the glove box are all working. The original AM radio is still installed in the dash area. (Keeping the stock factory look.) The original clock currently does not work. New wiring harnesses were installed during the restoration.
Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is finished and detailed. The owner added a few minor changes from the stock appearance. (Corvette 7 fin aluminum valve covers and a chrome air cleaner.) The original valve covers will go along with the sale of the vehicle. This 1957 vintage 283 CID V8 rebuilt engine comes with a the "Power Pack" option. (Four barrel carburetor and a dual exhaust system.) (Engine code: "FC" - Which stands for: 283 Cu. In. with a 4 barrel and Powerglide automatic transmission.) It starts, runs and sounds great. No problems. Bolted to this power plant is a rebuilt two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. It is also working great. It shifts out nice and smooth with no known problems or noises. (It does leak a little if it sits for a long time which is pretty typical.) The stock radiator has been cleaned and restored and is keeping the car running cool during the summer months. All of the hoses were replaced and they have the correct style clamps installed. The stock Delco generator is keeping the battery charged. The vehicle also has power steering which is also working great.
Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment still looks all stock. It is highly detailed and spotless. It has the correct black rubber mat along with the jacking, jacking tools, and jacking instructions label which is in the correct place. There is a new Firestone 7.50 x 14 wide white wall tire for a spare that matches the other four tires. The trunk floor under the mat looks great along with the spare tire well. (Original trunk floor pans.)
Glass: All of the glass pieces were replace during the restoration. They all look very nice, even the windshield looks great with no stone chips or wiper marks. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches on the side glass pieces. All of the side windows roll up and down without any problems along with the two vent windows. The stainless steel trim around the windows are all in great condition.
Wheels and Tires: All five(5) B.F.Goodrich Silvertown size 7.50-14 tires have the correct size wide white wall. They are in great shape and still look new. These tires are mounted on the stock Chevrolet rims that are painted the correct "Harbor Blue Poly" color. There are some minor chips on the rims between the tire and hub caps that could be touched up. These are the correct full size Belair hub caps with original chrome spinners. The black detail area in the hub caps look good. The chrome spinners do not show and signs of pitting and the red center emblems are not faded.
Undercarriage: Remember, this was once a body off restoration. Its been driven and enjoyed since then. The underside of the car is still fairly clean. When the body was removed from the chassis, the frame was cleaned, sandblasted and then painted. (The owner has the photos during the restoration.) No weak or rusted areas were found on the frame. The vehicle still retains its original floor pans with only one minor patch. The frame and other components were painted with the correct semi-gloss black chassis paint. The car received new brake and fuel lines along with a stainless steel dual exhaust system. The fuel tank is still original and has a bladder installed. The suspension was rebuilt with new rubber components and items. New springs and shocks. (Air shocks in the rear.)
Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are a few pictures of the bottom.

(44072 Zip Code)
Novelty is located near the Cleveland, Ohio area.
You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner who has owned this classic for 28 years.
The odometer is working and showing 4,151 miles. These are the miles since the vehicle was restored. The actual mileage is unknown.
The vehicle has a free and clear Ohio title that is ready to signed and notarized.
This Belair is not a 100 point trailed show car. It's also not your average "driver" quality show car either.
We would say this convertible is better then most cars you would see at your local car show and/or Cruise Ins.
It is the best of both worlds. A vehicle with a high end restoration that can be driven and enjoyed.
(Car shows on Saturdays, and going with the family for ice cream on Sundays.)
Also, the 1957 Chevy Belair Convertible is a great investment. This classic will never go out of style or lose popularity.
