1973 Chevrolet Impala, 86K miles, 350, garaged, triple blue
1973 Chevrolet Impala Description
1973 Chevrolet Impala. Purchased from an estate about 5 months ago. Has been garaged all of its life, and before I purchased had been parked since Friday, August 13, 2010. Elderly owner last recorded mileage of 86,010.7 miles on that day.
Body/Paint: Elderly gentleman scraped the garage with this car, so shortly before parking it 7 years ago he had the front fenders and doors, hood, header panel repainted. Rest of car appears to be original paint. Some scratches on the left rear quarter panel, Trunk lid has some checking in it. I have only washed it and put a quick coat of wax on it. No professional detail or buffing since I have owned it. Solid car with no rust that I can see. Excellent floor pans, trunk pan, body mounts, etc. Slight rock chips on lower belt/upper rocker area. Underside of car was sprayed with Eastwood rust encapulator as I do on all classics that come into the shop. Glass is good, doors open and close as they should, gaskets are good on doors and trunk also. Vinyl top is in great shape, no rust bubble under it or tears. Color is very sharp.
Interior: No rips, burns, tears, or imperfections in seats, headliner, etc. No cracks in the dash, no warping. Carpet in good shape except for one wear spot on driver's side rocker area on floor. Factory clock works. Someone added a third brake light which looks dumb but did not butcher anything. Rear speaker deck is in good shape. Glove box in good shape, no mice or similar problems. Comes with all original documents, in perfect shape, repair receipts, and the calendars with the log of the owners trips and mileage at time of parking the car in garage.
Mechanical: New: Interstate battery, radiator, turned front rotors, new front pads, new calipers, new brake hoses and master cylinder, new muffler, oil change, spark plugs. A/C still is R12, is cool but not cold. Car still has original gas in tank though I have added some and tried to run the old out without putting on too many miles. Wouldn't hurt to have points, cap, rotor, carb kit, but runs pretty good as is. Overall a solid mechanical car.
