1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Description

Up for auction is this 1970 Chevelle Malibu. I bought the car in 1981. It was last on the road in 1990. It has been sitting since that time. When it was taken off the road in 1990 it was running properly but it's been sitting for 27 years. It's a prime candidate for a restoration.
The motor in it is a small block out of a 1972 Nova. I haven't done anything to determine if it turns over or anything. I would think the new owner would like to put a new motor in it or rebuild this one. The transmission is an automatic 2 speed power glide which I believe is original. Back in the day you could go 90 mph in first gear with these transmissions, many were used in drag cars. The rear end is an original 10 bolt. I assume if you build this car up you'll want to upgrade to a 12 bolt. I believe it still has the original rear end that it came from the factory with.
The current hood on it is a cowl induction hood off of a 1970 chevelle. It does not have the flapper or any of the parts for the cowl induction but it is tapped to receive the parts. I believe this was a non-auctioning hood that could be ordered to be operational. At one time nitrous oxide was hooked up in the car. You see the condition of the sheet metal. Some rust through in places. Basically, the sheetmetal needs some work as pictured. I believe all the sheet metal is original. Both front floor board and the trunk floor will need to be replaced. The rear floor boards look good. The whole interior will need to be gutted and replaced. There was some leaking around the back rear window. The bucket seats that are in the car I think are from a 1967 GTO.
Currently the back rear drivers side wheel is locked up. It might be a sticking parking brake. The driver side door doesn't currently open, I think it's locked but I can't unlock it with the knob. I also don't have the key for the doors, trunk or glovebox. I drilled out the glovebox lock and the trunk lock so those will need to be replaced (this was done after the pictures were taken). You'll also need to work on getting the driver's side door working again.
I couldn't get good pictured of the underside because of where it's sitting. Look at the pictures and decide what the underside is like to the best of your ability. I also have an extra hood as pictured, this was the original hood to the car.
I did power wash the car so it blew some of the paint off and you see some of the primer on the sheetmetal. I think the odometer is correct at 139,000 on the body. The motor does not have that many miles on it.
Basically, you're getting a 1970 Chevelle Malibu that has had parts and a different motor added. The car needs to be restored. The motor likely needs replacement or a rebuild.
You are responsible for picking the car up or arranging for shipping. You'll need a flatbed or trailer with a winch on it. You can back up to the car and should have no problems with loading it. I will require a $500 Paypal payment within 48 hours of the auction close. The remaining payment can be made via PayPal, cash or a certified cashier's check within 7 days. If you fail to follow through on purchasing the car, the $500 deposit is forfeited and I'll relist the car after 7 days.
There is no need to pick up the car immediately but I would like to get it gone before the snow flies. I also have the original manual. I have the original clear Michigan title. When final payment is made, I'll sign the title over to you. If you live in Michigan you just need to take the title to a Secretary of State office and transfer the title. If you're outside of Michigan, make sure you know what has to be done in your state to transfer the tittle. I do need to put the exact purchase price on the title. Please don't ask me to put a lower figure on the title as I will not do that.
I'm in the south central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The zip code is 49837. You're free to look at the car if you like, just email me. Again, this is a car that needs restoration. It's being sold as is with no warranty or guarantees. This should be a good project for the person with mechanical and body shop experience.
