1963 Chevrolet Corvair Greenbrier Van Description

Ready to drive and enjoy. Great for around town. Rides and handles well due to replacements underneath. Not a 70+ mph cruiser. I just drove it 270 miles on 60 +/- highway (Route 66 to OKC...and.......in 1963 most highways were 50 - 60 mph until the interstate system was established) Drove nice.
This vehicle has a "driver quality" restoration. Newer paint is very good, straight separation lines, still shiny and smooth. Upholstery was all redone and still excellent condition. Carpets were replaced a few years ago and are a bit dirty here and there. My understanding is the previous owner started restoring the body/paint maybe 10-12 years ago intending for it to be a present to granddaughter on 16th birthday. Turned out she didn't like it, and wanted one of his red and white rampside pickups instead. So he kept it this one in garage for years with regular, occasional driving to keep it up. But, as indicated above, I did lots of soft parts replacements needed from long storage times.
One of the great things about these Corvairs is that they are air-cooled which is very efficient and reduces vehicle weight. Another thing is that OEM and Reproduction parts are readily available at several Corvair specialty stores, such as Clark's Corvair in MA, Corvair Ranch in PA, California Corvair and Corvair Underground in CA. Most parts available. There is also a national organization called CORSA which connects the many Corvair owners to great knowledge base, parts and services in the US.
It is rare to find a Greenbrier this nice for this price. On this one most restorations have been done and you can drive it around right away.
The gas gauge does not work. It did but then stopped. It's likely a ground wire connection has minor corrosion.
The auto transmission is 2 speed Powerglide. It usually shifts smooth but is a little harsh on downshifts - not severe but typical for old transmissions. I have used Trans-X. It also leaks a few drops, usually. But on occasion it will burp out a little puddle when it has been a very hot day. This is fairly common in these. But checking fluid level regularly it keeps going just fine for driving and hasn't changed over the last year + of driving.
Side barn doors right door fit isn't precisely aligned. Works fine and locks but close hard to get best seal and minimal rattle. Otherwise rattles a little. ALl other doors and windows are working.
That's about all I can think of. I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability and my experience with the vehicle. Also, most repairs/restorations were done by local professional repair shops. I installed new exhaust and carburetors and a few other bits myself. Please feel free to ask any questions before bidding.
I will be happy to accommodate inspection visits and shipping pickup at or near my home in Tulsa.
