1970 SS396 Malibu 1 Owner 27K Miles Black/Black Buckets 4spd Console Cowl + More
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Unrestored 27K Miles with Documentation Description
First off I have the original Title from in 1970 but for a few reasons it might not be usable in some statesso I listed it listed as a SALVAGE TITLEas I had to make a choice as far as ebay is concerned.
This is a 1970 Chevelle Malibu with roughly 27,000 original miles that was bought a few years ago from the original owner. It has been sitting for a few years now since I ran it and the carb needs rebuilding.
When the guy bought the car he was only 17 years old and could not register the car because he needed to be 18 so the Title is in his mothers name.
At some point in time the car was legally transferred from his mom to him but the Title was never updated as one was not needed in the state the car was registered in. To find a vintage original green CT Title today is unheard of as nobody ever paid the 5 bucks for one as they again, were not needed to register the car.
When the car was almost new from what I was told the owner did not like the stripes and had the dealer paint over them. There are a few areas where the outline of the stripes can be seen under the black paint.
He also removed the 4 original wheels with the Uniroyal Tiger Paws and shelved them in favor of some mags and then reinstalled them before he sold the car. The spare has never been on the road and probably still has the original AIR it left the factory with.
Black on Black 396SS with buckets and console with 4 speed, cowl induction and more that you can read on the original bill of sale shown in the photos.
The car is an old Hartford/Newington CT Berlin Turnpike McDonalds cruiser and has its nicks and dings and some minor scratches but it is still straight and the chrome is very nice. Someone did steal the hood pins way back then and they need to be replaced.
It still has the original T-3 Headlights, seats, rugs, headliner trunkliner with spackel paint and was never cut up, welded and has no replaced floors or body panels.
The original owner stated something to the fact that he could not remember anyone ever sitting in the back seat and his wife said she never even rode in the car in all the years they were married. .
The original exhaust is still there even the resonators which are rusty but when was the last time you saw a set of resonators still intact from 1970???
Under the hood is the original matching number drivetrain with a Hurst Shifter that replaced the original shifter many years ago.
The original ring type battery terminals are still there with what looks like all the original radiator and heater hoses.
Documentation includes the original Title from 1970. protecto plate, manuals, bill of sale and the sales brochure and more plus photos of the original owner on the day he sold the car.
If you are looking for a 454 sorry I can't help. If you want a shiny restored Chevelle with repop floors and welded in quarter panels they are all over ebay and please go buy one.
If you are the kind of guy like me that likes unrestored cars and realizes their historical value this might be the car for you?
I'd rather redo the carb, and look for the original shifter, hood pins plus the fan shroud that is missing all day long instead of spending months and months welding in new repop metal floors and body panels and buying repop seats and rugs and replacing rusted out chrome and rotted frames anyday.
Ask for my phone number if seriously interested.
REVISION; .......I HAVE HAD A FEW PEOPLE ASK ABOUT THE TIRES. THEY ARE IN VERY NICE SHAPE BUT REMEMBER THAT THEY ARE 47 PLUS YEARS OLD. NICE FOR A MUSEUM BUT IF YOU PLAN ON DRIVING THE CAR GET ANOTHER SET OF TIRES AND WHEELS AND SAVE THESE FOR SHOWS ETC. .......................PLUS ANYTIME THIS CAR SITS FOR MORE THAN 7 DAYS I HAVE IT UP ON BLOCKS SO THE TIRES DO NOT TOUCH THE GROUND AVOIDING MOISTURE AND FLAT SPOTS.
