1951 Chevrolet Truck 3600 3/4 ton FACTORY STAKE BED.
1951 Chevrolet Other Pickups 3600 Description
1951 Chevrolet 3600 Stake Bed.From what I was told, The little truck has lived its entire life in New Mexico. The research I have done locates its original owner just outside of Taos. The vehicle is in great condition overall for an old farm truck.
At some point, Someone gave it a pretty poor green paint job.The original paint seems to have been black. I have peeled back some of the green paint on the hood, uncovering a great black and surface rust patina. It wouldn't take much to have a great Rusto-Rod patina finish.Or the truck could easily be resprayed for restoration. It has a small crease in the passenger side fender and a light dent on the passenger side door. It also has a couple of small dents along the top rear edge of cab. Most can only be seen if your looking for them.Chrome front bumper is OK, Bumper pan is beat up. Rear custom farm bumper.Headlights and taillights and horn work. The interior is good. Solid floors with only a couple of small rust spots.(Misplaced rubber floor mat)Seat cover is good for an older replacement, No cracks or rips. The dash is good, But must have had an aftermarket radio installed at some point as the holes have been expanded a bit.All gauges but speedometer are working. (Could need a new cable)Wiper are vacuum controlled and do not work, But new 6 Volt electric conversion is included.Glass is good, Rock chip on lower passenger windshield, Small crack in corner of rear glass. Both door windows have been replaced along with gaskets and hardware. Vent windows work properly.Original 216 inline six starts and runs great. Starts on first kick on a warm day. On a cold day it needs a little choke. The engine does smoke, But has plenty of power and will do 65 mph or more all day long. She does not overheat.I imagine it will need a rebuild at some point, But it could run like this for years.Clutch and transmission shift great.Original GM stake body panels and hardware included. The wood is original and weathered, But latches and hardware are all included. And they are getting hard to find for an old truck like this. The wood bed is in weathered but solid shape. I was thinking of flipping the boards, They are perfect on the bottom sides. No emergency/parking break. I didn't get around to that yet. I have some of the old hardware.
I have put over $2500.00 and many hours into the truck over the last year.New parts include:New steel Dexstar one piece rims (Origanal split rims and tires come with the truck)Brand new Firestone Transforce all season tires. (Literally less than 50 miles on them)Brand new huck brake drums, shoes, wheel cylinder, springs, Brake lines and master cylinder. Both door windows, Gaskets, channels, trim and screws.Door seals. Door cards in Tan to match interior.Chrome side view mirror (Old giant mirror included)Electric wiper conversion kit. (Not installed yet)New Fuel Line and filter.New Cap, rotor, points, condenser, plugs and wires.
I think this truck could be a cool daily driver, Or an awesome hot-rod.It definitely has the bones for a full restoration and most of the parts are readily available.
Pick up would be in the Albuquerque NM area. But I'm willing to help load it on a transporter if you choose to have it shipped.Feel free to contact me for any additional information or pictures. Some of the pictures in this listing are from before repairs were made. Example: Engine picture does not show new fuel lines.
