1988 Cheverolet Monte Carlo SS 85k miles Black/Tan 355 lots of new parts
1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Description
Selling my 1988 Monte Carlo SS. It needs a little work to get it back on the road. I've owned this car for 16 years now. I started this project before I was married and before kids. So as the story goes, I'm conceding and putting it up for sale. The body has approximately 88k on it. All of the new parts have less than 1 mile on them as I never plated this car. It is a real SS. Original color is all black with the gold sticker package. Tan interior in great shape, just needing a cleaning. No rust. Body in great shape. I have all the pieces for the car, like the SS horn missing from the picture on the steering wheel.
Motor: 355 (350 2 bolt main bored over .040)
- Dart Iron Eagle heads, 2.05 valves
-Rpm air gap intake

-Hardened push rods, both the longer ones and stock length as well (can't remember the length off the top of my head now)
-Bought the entire rebuild kit, pistons, rings, bearings (crank and connecting rods), crankshaft bolt hole for the balancer is stripped. Needs to be rethreaded but may need to be removed to complete, I'm not sure.
-Block was cleaned and magnafluxed, cam bearings installed.
-Original power steering pump and new water pump.
-New headers and were powder coated years ago so now have corrosion starting.
-just put a used Demon carb on it. Probably slightly too large of a carb. Dual feed line is leaking.
Transmission: Turbo 350
-Rebuilt by Jet transmissions
-Shift kit installed by Jet as well
-New torque convertor (don't remember the RPM range, next best up from stock.)
-Poly urethane trans mount.
-G force transmission cross member.
Other new parts:
-New tie rods in and out
-All brakes were redone but recently had a wheel cylinder lock up while i was trying to move it.
-All stock bushings replaced with poly urethane
-Rear control arms were welded to enclose/strengthen them.
-Car was lowered with Belltech lowering system. which includes: new spindles, coil springs, shocks.
-New ball joints on both sides
-17'' eagle alloy rims with another set of tires that are almost new.
-4'' cowl induction hood
-Painted a few years ago, some spots look ok, other spots could use a buffing.
-New Sony CD player and all new speakers in doors and back window.
-Under carriage was cleaned, wire wheeled, and coated with POR15
-New RPM, water, oil, and temp gauges inside. White faces.
-B&M slap shifter
-Red dash light bulbs installed
-Stock limited slip rearend (will need to be replaced or upgraded with the power the motor is making)
-Will need a new battery
-Powder coated pulleys
Before I owned it, the car was stolen. The column was broken. I bought the piece to fix it but have not fixed it yet. I'm available on the weekends and some evenings to show the car. I added up the receipts years ago and did almost all of this work myself, it still came to over $12k.Thanks for looking
Car starts but backfires and dies. I think it's just timing or carb needs adjusting.
Power windows and locks need connecting. I put new/used doors on it recently.
No major rust. Car has been indoors all these years except the past year. Passenger door was scraped/dented by my daughter in a golf cart, will get pictures soon.
Will get additional pictures up asap.
