1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne Short Wide Box Truck
1972 Chevrolet C-10 Cheyenne Description
Up for auction is a very nice 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Cheyenne Short Wide Box Truck. **Disclaimer, I am listing this for the actual owner**
The owner has had this truck for 25 years and kept it well maintained. This is a California truck that the current owner purchased in the Sacramento area when he lived in California.
The engine has been swapped out to a Vortec 350 from a 2002 Silverado. It has fuel injection, power steering, A/C, and heat. All work perfectly. Engine is backed by a 4L80 transmission. All the gauges in the instrument cluster have been adapted to the newer engine and they all work. This truck is also factory tach and it works as well.
Odometer currently shows 26363 miles. Owner does now know for sure if this is original miles or if its rolled over. He has not put very many miles on it but based on condition of the truck it could go either way.
The body was completely repainted inside and out about 10 years ago to the current dark blue metallic color by a professional body shop in Boise, Id. There is no major damage or rust on this truck. It does have some scratches and general wear and tear type stuff. There are several areas of custom red pinstriping on the truck that add to the look. The stamped word "Chevrolet" in the tailgate also got some custom treatment with a white to gray fade and orange outline pinstriping. Make sure to look at all the pictures really well to see the condition of the paint and body. The inside of the bed also has a spray in bedliner.
This truck was originally ordered with a leaf spring rear suspension and front disc brakes. Which it still has. This means that it does not have the trailing arm rear suspension with coil springs like most of these trucks came with. The rear end has 3:73 gears and does have a posi in it.
The seats are from a 1967 truck and have been re-upholstered. A blue Chevy logo was added to the seat backs for a custom look. The bottom of the middle seat can flip up to reveal a storage console area underneath. The seats are in excellent condition, no stains, rips, tears, or signs of wear. There is a stereo with am/fm/cd player that sounds pretty decent using some door speakers.
The rims are the older original type Cragar SS. Not sure on the width but they are probably 15x9.5 based on the tire size of 275/60/15.
This truck is an excellent driver. It has heat for cold days and A/C for the summer. It even has a tilt column. The brakes work good and it has no trouble stopping. Because of the newer engine with fuel injection it starts right up with no problems and runs great. The owner has driven this truck as is from Boise, Idaho to San Francisco three times with no issues.
