Up for sale is an extremely rare and well preserved 1957 Chevy NAPCO 4x4 pickup truck. This is an original NAPCO truck, not a conversion, or a 2wd truck that was converted. I am helping sell this vehicle for theowner. He is a retired engineer who is a stickler for details and it shows with the level of restoration this truck has just undergone. I will do my best to help answer any questions you may have in a timely manor. As most of you know, these trucks are getting hard to find in any condition. This particular one is fresh having just had a complete frame off nut and bolt restoration. No expense was spared in the resto and only original or GM certified replacement parts were used. Every component was either restored to the highest degree, or replaced with quality top of the line parts. He has owned this truck for nearly 14 years. He bought it from a fellow in Milford Kansas who owned it for approximately 15 years. He started restoring it then sold it to the current owner. It only had 66,000 orig miles on it before the restoration so it was a very nice truck to begin with. After the current owner got it, It sat in dry indoor storage for 12 years before he retired and had the time to start on the restoration that this truck deserved.
He wanted to see this project to the end which was his goal. He has achieved that, but with several other projects waiting in line, it is time to sell this one and get started on the next one! Currently, every single thing works the way it should on this truck except the radio. It has had approx. 334 trouble free miles put on it with no issues. The truck can be driven the way it is, no mechanical work of any kind needs to be done, as everything is fresh or new. Or perhaps the new owner could do some basic bodywork to get the panels perfect and paint it a nice shiny color of their choice. The hard work has definitely been done.
The frame and running gear are like new, no areas where rust ever pitted the steel…it’s perfect. The engine has been rebuilt from top to botton and runs like new. The transmission shifts like a 1957 Chevy truck would shift (it’s a four wheel drive truck from 1957) but it rides quite nicely with the radial tires. I have a set of the original wheels that will go with the truck. The wheels that are on the truck are new wheels and hubcaps from Wheelwright. The tires are new Firestones. The brakes where gone through beforehe got the truck but he decided to replace the wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and brake hosesjust to be sure it was perfect, as it had been sitting for some years. Both front and rear axles were both serviced and operate like new. The entire chassis and running gear were all sealed and painted the correct original colors.
The cab needed some floor work to be 100% perfect so new cab corners were welded inside and out on both sides, new steps on both sides were also added because they had been previously covered with carpet glue and it was just easier to change them to make them clean and back to original. New doors were sourced from Restoration World here in Ohio and fit great, not like the cheap Chinese parts sold on the internet. The original bed is very solid. It has a beautiful maple wood floor that was hand crafted from the ownerswood shop. It has an NOStail gate. The bed and wood is all mounted with the correct stainless hardware. The front end has new fenders (again from Restoration World) with new inner fenders. The original grill is chrome but has some slight surface rust in a few small areas. It's good enough for how the truck sits now (driver quality)but would be an excellent candidate for a re-chrome or a prime and paint. The original seat was reupholstered and it turned out very nice. The windows are rebuilt with new glass, they roll up and down the way they should and cozy wings work well also. Doors lock with the same key as the ignition. New wiring harness from Classic Parts of America, new speedometer, everything works the way it should. All interior vents were replaced and the original heater is completely restored and blows hot air on the floor and defrosters. The correct 1957 steering wheel and horn button were used and it all works. New parking and tail lights too. The starter button on the floor works correctly. This truck is a true time machine back to 1957!
All in all, this truck is extremely nice and the restoration is top notch. You will not have to look for parts to finish this truck…the parts are not in boxes unlabeled…they are on the truck and working. The reserve is very realistic. You could not build this truck for what it is priced at. New owner could do bodywork and paint and it would be worth close to double what owner is asking.
