1969 Chevelle SS396 - Documented with matching trim tag & Vin on Block
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Description
Well I have to make a hard decision to sell my 1969 Chevelle SS396 due to a hardship. I purchased this in 1979, yes 38 years ago, and it was my daily driver until 1983 when I took it off the road to rebuild it. It is a true SS396 and the build sheet was under the rear seat. (See PIC). I bought 90% of the available NOS chrome directly from a local Chevy dealer in 1984. The engine is the original 396-325HP which I had freshened up in 1983 but it has not been started for about 25 years. The transmission is a M20 Muncie 4 SPD which is correct and the 12 Bolt, 3:55 Posi is all original. The hood is new along with the front fenders. (NOS from dealer). It has a bench seat with floor shifter which was great in those days cruising with your Babe next to you. The interior has never been removed and never off the frame. Brakes, steering, electrical wiring, etc has never been cut up nor removed. Power Discs up front and drums in back as it came from the factory along with Power Steering. It has Tilt wheel which I did add for extra comfort. It is documented with only 48,000 ORIGINAL miles on it. The original wheels along with original Spare tire with vintage bias-ply tires from the 70's still hold air. As far as I know it did have a dent in the drivers door and rear quarter panel but was fixed prior to me purchasing it. I had the car sand-blasted, Zinc Chromed and primed to preserve it. There is no major rust on this car and is ready to be finished as you see fit but it deserves to be restored to concourse level as not many true SS396 are still out there and documented. It has always been garage kept never in any harsh environment since taken off the road. I never got to finish the car due to getting married, having kids and working but was able to store it away.
I have another gas tank and some of the original pieces from the front end that was replaced. New Parts includes - NOS Emblems, NOS Front Grille w/Mouldings, NOS hood grille, NOS rear mouldings and Re-Chromed exhaust tips to name a few.
Price is what I think it should sell for due to it's originality, the true build sheet and what it would take to make it a concourse car. I will take serious offers lower than this so don't be afraid to make one. A lot of these cars selling on here are not true SS.s and as complete as this one. If they post it as a true SS, Ask for the original documentation. Please contact me for any additional info through this site. Thank you for bidding!!
I have PICS of the VIN ID, Trim Tag and Engine Block Stamp if you want them proving this is an original SS396 with original engine.
