1950 Chevy 3600 truck 4x4 Coleman conversion NAPCO Marmon Harrington barn find
1950 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 3500 Description
This is an extremely rare 3600 Chevy 3/4 ton truck with a Coleman 4x4 conversion. The Coleman company wasbased in Colorado andspecialized in converting large trucks to 4x4, such as 2.5 and 5 ton dump trucks. On very rare occasions, and I mean RARE, they used their smallest axles, which were 1.5 ton, and put them under a smaller 3/4 ton truck.
I don't have any history on this particular truck. It is from New Mexico, and I believe it was born a fire or brush truck judging by the extended bumper and red paint behind the front seat. The title is an old New Mexico title signed by the original owner.
The drive train is in good shape, but the truck has not ran in years. The engine will turn by hand and is complete. It rolls and steers good, emergency brake works and trans and transfer shift in and out of gearand are free. The brakes do not work. The front and rear axles are both Coleman. Some of these truck only had a Coleman front axle and retained the stock rear. All 4 wheels are 17.5 wheels specific to the Colemanaxles.
The body is in pretty good shape. It is pretty rust free, except for the floors. It had house carpet padding under the mats that caused some rust on the floorboards. The cab corners, running boards, door bottoms, battery box, and rocker areas are in really good shape. Someone cut the hood for ventilation and the hood hinges are disconnected. The frame rails are in good shape, but the front bumper extensions are welded on. The front cross member under the radiator was trimmed and cut but for what I don't know. I don't have a bed for the truck.
I have a tractor and can help load, and the truck can be stored here until you arrange shipping at no cost, as long as full payment has been made.
If you areconsidering restoringan early 4x4 truck this would be an excellent candidate. I think you would be hard pressed to find another one, much less one for sale.Very unique and much morerare than theNAPCO trucks.
I cantext you additional pics, just let me know what you need a picture of and I will get it to you. Tim, 719five five seven, one seven five five any time.
