1979 Chevrolet Corvette Description

This 1979 Corvette has undergone a professional restoreation. The doors, door glass, windshield, and rear window were removed to get the best paint job possible. The stock, and uncomfortable, seats were replaced with original Recaro seats. These seats are a little taller than the original seats. If you’ taller than 6’ or have a long torso, your head will probably touch the t-top headliner. The option for taller people is of course to remove the T-Top headliners, and have an upholsterer custom finish them. I’m 6’ tall and have not a hair touching the head liner. My nephew is 6’ 2” and I had to remove the head liner for him to drive or ride along in it. Here is a lengthy list of work completed. A new windshield was installed. A new dash and vents including vent foam surrounds, that stabilize the vents. All vacuum control pods for defrost, vent and heat doors were replaced along with the heater head, and cable. The vacuum switch was replaced too, because it’s failure requires the dash to be removed to replace it when it fails. The heater core was also replaced. Also new is the power door lock switches, window switches, ignition switch, headlamp switch, door lock cylinder set, window regulator springs, glove box latch/lock assembly, ignition module within the distributor, ignition coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, hood release handle/cable, stainless steel parking brake shoe spring/hold down kit, seat belts, under hood vacuum controlled coolant shut off valve for coolant shut off to heater core, outer door window channel felts, door panels, arm rests, inner door release handles and escutcheons, outer door release handles, door weatherstrips, t-top weatherstrips, upper and lower center consoles, center console arm rest, tachometer printed circuit, instrument cluster lens, new front and rear carpet kit, rear storage compartment assembly, battery, radiator and heater coolant hoses, steering wheel, brake master cylinder, new Pioneer DEH-X6800BT Bluetooth AM/FM CD player with phone feature, turn signal/cruise control switch, new P255/60R15 Firestone Indianapolis 500 tires, all tail light lenses, rebuilt carburetor, and new fuel filter, new water pump, new A/C compressor with R-134 refrigerant conversion, new A/C receiver dryer, new A/C main hose, belts, power steering ram, all four power steering hoses, four new KYB gas shocks, brake pads front and rear, transmission filter and Dexron AT fluid is fresh. New gasoline filler neck rubber surround. The differential fluid was change out and 4 ozs. of fresh posi fluid was installed. I had a pin striper strip and paint the four original Chevy badges. A new cruise control transducer has been installed, although it didn’t remedy the cruise control from being inoperable. The front end was completely rebuilt using four new ball joints, new upper and lower control arm bushings, and a sway bar link kit. Even though the car has a steering box, it steers as tight as a rack and pinion steering system. New right side exhaust manifold. The needs if your in California or any other state that require a smog certification: the right air injection manifold tube is missing, the four ports have threaded plugs installed in the exhaust manifold, and will need to be installed to pass smog. It is a cheap part, around $40.00 available at eBay. I lived in Ca. when I purchased this car and had to have it smoged to transfer the title, it passed smog with flying colors. I have included a photo of the smog print out...it is a very clean emission report, and will pass smog after the aforementioned air injection tube is installed. The only non functioning components/features on the car is the clock, it’s a $100.00 part, and the cruise control is not functioning. Also included with the car is the original factory air cleaner. The previous owner had the engine professionally rebuilt and only put 10,000.0 miles on the car after it was rebuild. The odometer accurately reads 99,534.0 miles. Why am I selling it? I had a total right knee replacement four years ago. The low seating position in this car requires me to extend my right leg straight out, and causes quite a bit of pain in my right knee. Otherwise I’d drive it ‘til the end and pass it down to my son. I purchased the car with 98,875.0 original miles on the odometer as is evident on the smog report. I’ve done more work, and hardly any driving of this car, as is evident by the miles logged by the odometer. The only detracting factor for this car is the paint on the rear bumper is stress cracked due to the original urethane bumper. If the the body shop people had told me this would be an issue I would have replaced the bumper with a new fiberglass bumper. The fix is to now buy a fiber glass bumper at eBay for $235.00 shipped, and get it painted. The following is a report of my cost to complete the project. I purchased the car in 2011 for $3,500.00, paint job $4,000.00, outside labor $4,500.00, parts cost $13,000.00. Grand total expended was $25,000.00. There is nothing to be done except the bumper, air injection tube, cruise control, and clock. It should provide years of trouble free driving. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If you choose to fly in and drive it home, I’ll pick you up at the airport which is 10 minutes away from my home. It is ready to go cross country +. A $500.00 non refundable PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction close. The full balance is due within 3 days of the auction close. I will accept a PayPal payment for the balance due, as long as you pay the 3% PayPal transaction fee. If you don’t want to pay the 3% fee, I’ll accept cash in hand. I have a clean title in hand ready to sign over. Even though this car has been restored, it is not a trailer queen. It has the usual rock chips usually found in the finish. If you want more photos, or details please contact me and provide your phone number and the best time to call you. I will not accept a return for buyers remorse. I strongly advise seriously interested buyers to come and see this car. I will meet with a shipper in order to get the car to you. Good luck bidders!
