1972 Chevrolet Other Description
EVEL KNIEVEL’S Snake River Canyon Super Van
Up for auction is Evel Knievel’s 1974 Chevrolet Step-side Van which came to be known as the Super Van of Snake River Canyon fame. Evel used this van as his Launch Pad Control Center and to haul his Sky Cycle X-2 to the Snake River Canyon jump site in Idaho. The Launch Pad Control Center inside the Super Van would’ve been where Evel’s engineer Robert Truax was stationed monitoring the Sky Cycle and giving the launch orders on that faithful Sunday, September 8, 1974, at 3:36p.m.This van was the only transport vehicle of the Sky Cycle that Evel used.
The van can be seen in Evel’s movie “Viva Knievel”!The van was also featured in the 1974 Snake River Canyon Topps Trading Card set. In 1976 it was a part of Evel’s Nationwide Tour.
The Super Van in restored condition should command over 6 figures!
Evel’s 1976 Montana Owner’s Certificate of Registration and Tax Receipt will come with the van. The registration is signed by Evel…a one of kind and a very rare autograph. Also, the original Evel Knievel Enterprises envelope that the registration has been in for more than 40 years, with Evel’s hand writing on it, will be included. The Super Van has made its home for the last several years at the Route 66 Vintage Iron Motorcycle Museum in Miami, OK. It has has been the centerpiece to the Museum’s Evel Knievel Exhibit.
