1971 GMC Sprint with LS5-454 Engine
1971 Chevrolet Other Pickups Description
This very rare 1971 GMC Sprint is a restoration project for a collector. The GMC Sprint is a little-known variant of Chevy's El Camino. The top engine option in the 1971 GMC was the LS5-454 with forged steel crankshaft which was rated at 365 HP. It has cowl induction system which was only available for the 454. This Sprint has power steering, power front disc brakes, all tinted glass/gauge package, AT and A/C. The A/C is not properly working. Body tag shows BODY BY FISHER ST71 53680 8238827BDY, TR 731, 49 GPNT, 7A B 0758. The 1971 Sprint shared the assembly line and manual with the Chevelle and El Camino. The Sprint used a "Chevrolet" A-body.
Only 249 GMC Sprints were built in 1971. Of those, it is estimated that 25 were the 454 version. Of those, 16 are believed to exist at the present time. Of the 16, it is believed only 9 had factory A/C, cowl induction, AT and power steering. This Sprint runs and is driveable but not for long distances.
Also included are a number of new parts including a 1971 steering wheel, books and manuals to start the restoration. This Sprint is being sold "as is and where is." It may be helpful to go to chevelles.com for additional info on the Sprint including codes, history, etc. Please carefully read all details of this vehicle as it contains all the research I have on it.
