1971 Short Bed from CA, Rust-Free, LS Engine with a Turbo, PS, PDB, AWESOME !
1971 Chevrolet C-10 Description
1971 Chevrolet C-10 Short Bed Step Side.
California Truck...Built there in Freemont and stayed there until 4 years ago when it came to Florida.
5.3 engine and 4L65E from a 2005 Suburban with 87,000 miles.
Solid truck with amazing potential. It's ready to be finished cosmetically.
Offered for sale is a very solid 1971 Chevy truck. California born and raised. Came to Florida, and garage kept while being built and ever since. Less than 40 miles on installation, not counting tuning and dyno time. The engine didn't need anything except some exterior stuff, and the transmission was fine...but was rebuilt and strengthened. Firm shifts and no leaks. Exhaust is all new from turbo to the tips. Excellent power disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear. Power steering is excellent with no leaks.
Truck is a factory short bed step side. The photo of the glove compartment sticker shows it if you decode it. 115" wheelbase step side. VIN shows it as a 1971 factory V-8 built in Freemont, CA. there are a lot of trucks out there that have had their frame shortened and a short bed installed. Also, lots of 6 cylinder trucks that were converted. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you're going to buy a truck you're investing money in, make it a real short bed V-8.
The engine picture shows the money, time and effort spent to do it right. Coils relocated, turbo plumbing done well, intercooler and piping is awesome, and the core support modified to allow it to be below the hood line. A beautiful installation of a great set up on a terrific truck.
Speaking of the set up...it makes 405 rear wheel horsepower on 5-6 psi of boost. At pretty much any speed, you can accelerate and downshift...and the wheel lights up.
The goods and bads :
The good----the obvious. A rust-free California truck with a ton of the hard work already done. As with anything, depending on where you live, a little tweaking and tuning for your specific temperature or altitude will help you to get the most out of it. It's all modern stuff and the design has been out for almost two decades. Parts are cheap and plentiful. If you decide you want to run more boost and terrorize the road in your town, there are LS tuners all over the place.
The bad----the obvious too. I'm not a huge fan of the color, and I don't like the wheels. This truck...with a different color, a modern set of wheels, and a height adjustment...would be awesome. Or, stock style wheels and tires and create the ultimate sleeper. No matter who sees it, they don't expect to see what's under the hood. The exhaust is quiet, and the blow off valve for the turbo makes people wonder. Also, the seats. They are new and perfect, but I would prefer a bench seat and new carpet. The stereo is fine, the tilt column is new, and maybe a new gauge set up would look better. It also needs a posi rear end. That one tire doesn't stand a chance if you plan on driving it aggressively. Cosmetically, everything I think should be done is based on my tastes. If I were to do all of that, the new owner likely won't like my choices. So I figured I should stop where it is and let the new owner express himself. I can also sell it cheaper since I'm not spending money on stuff you're going to change anyway. You buy it and make it the way you want, without having to do the headache work or undo what I would pick for it.
Speaking of price, of course it's not cheap. Just a plain truck in this condition has a value, and the other stuff adds from there. I am not adding a "buy it now" price because I really don't know what to ask for it. I will say that the reserve price is much less than you can buy another solid truck or an LS powered truck, without the turbo. Honestly, a person could buy this truck and remove the engine and transmission set up, put anything good back in, and still have a great truck worth keeping and worth more than they can buy it for here. Shop around and see what others are asking. Clean, solid truck, a lot of upgrades, and worth a fortune once you finish the look.Trades possible, but if you aren't local, that complicates things. I reserve the right to end the auction early in the event someone steps up and makes me an offer I can't refuse. Please email me through eBay, directly at northshorebill@aol.com, or text me at 941-740-2277. Texts preferred, but calls possible later in the evening. Clean, clear Florida title in hand, ready to give to the new owner once the funds have cleared.
Truck is located in Port Charlotte, Florida...about 90 miles south of Tampa on the west side of the state. Easy and quick access from I-75, and if you buy it and need to store it for a little bit while you set up transportation, that's not a problem.
Serious bidders only, please ! Lets not waste each others time. If you are in the market for something awesome and different...here you go. If you're looking for a project...this isn't one. If you need more info or pictures, just let me know and I'll be all over it. Phone to phone sending of pictures is the preferred method. It's quick and simple. If you need it done through the computer, I can do that too...it just takes longer.
Good Luck and Happy Bidding
