1963 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport Description

1963 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova
You are looking at 1963 Chevy II 400 Series Convertible SS that has been restored into absolute perfect factory condition. Hundreds and hundreds of hours were put into making this vehicle the beauty that it is. In 1963 this vehicle was produced in the Willow Run, MI plant and went to Palmdale California. Just prior to its restoration in 2014 it was purchased and shipped to Illinois as a driver and was in very good condition. Nothing was missed on this vehicle as you will be able to see in the CD with over 1600 pics of the restoration. A folder full of receipts is included which totals more than the asking price for this vehicle and that does not include the original cost of the vehicle. Not to mention the hours of maticulous work that went into it. The wheels on this vehicle were added to give it a nice look but as you will see in the pics, the original style tires, rims, Super Sport center caps are included.
What is rare about this vehicle is the list of options which include Super Sport, Convertible, Factory A/C, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Seat Belts, Bumper Guards, etc. It was not documented by GM how many vehicles existed with this combination of options but the RPO production numbers listed below give you an idea how few probably exist with all of these factory options.

1963 Production Numbers:

  • 372,626 Chevy II Novas were built
  • 171,100 were 400 Series
  • 49,645 had Seat Belt Equipment
  • 41,819 had Power Steering
  • 42,432 were Super Sports
  • 24,823 were Convertibles
  • 13,389 had Factory A/C
  • 10,927 had Power Brakes
  • 13,782 had Front Bumper Guards and 8,691 had Rear Bumper Guards

The power plant is a 283 with 2 speed powerglide that have both been completely rebuilt. This engine runs so perfect and smooth you can set your coffee on the air cleaner without ripples. Some of you enthusiests will say, hey wait a minute! In 1963 the Chevy II did not come with a V8. You are correct! The original 6 cylinder had a failure of a piston which is all documented in photos on the CD. This is a 1964 283 (casting numbers also documented) that came out of a 1964 Chevy II. The attention to detail that went into making this engine compartment absolutely perfect is impressive. The color is the original factory color of Cordovan Brown.

Everything works on this vehicle including the clock, radio, all dome lights, etc. The paint is georgeous and body lines are perfect. As you will see the underside is as clean as the interior. Photos document what went into making every inch of the underside perfect as well. Great handling vehicle and just a blast to drive. I could go on and on about how perfect this vehicle is but I think the pics tell it all including the original style screw cap battery, factory hose clamps, fasteners, etc.
