I purchased this incredibly beautiful muscle car a little over five years ago and made many up-grades. This 1971 Chevy Chevelle Malibu Convertible SS has the standard Chevelle SS engine: a two-barrel 350-cubic-inch V8 rated at 245 horsepower. The Cowl Induction produces even more power and gives it that powerful Chevelle roar. The Hydra-glide 5 speed transmission lets you convert that power into speed.
Research on the VIN shows that it is a true Chevelle Malibu Convertible. I purchased from Streetside Classics in Atlanta to ensure its authenticity. The pictures don't do it justice since I don't have a showroom and a professional photographer, but it is a beautiful as the day I bought it.
I have made many upgrades to it.
- added three point retractable seat belts to the driver and passenger seats and replaced the rear lap belts
- had new floor pans put in and sealed the floor
- replaced the carpet and added sound deadening padding
- put in new dual exhaust system
- rebuilt the front end
- rebuilt the positraction rear end
- new suspension
- vinyl seats are in perfect condition, just had to put in new headrests
- upgraded the drums and put in new disk brakes all the way around
- new power steering
- new power top motor and hydraulics
- radio and speakers
- new wheels and tires
- new headers
I have paperwork on all of the above.
The undercarriage is rust free. The beautiful acrylic paint has perfect lines. There are a couple of chips in the paint that need to be taken care of. There is also a small area of cracked paint on rear gravel pan. The soft top is in great condition. The convertible top frame does need to be repaired at one of the joints.
