Thank you for looking at our beautiful original 1974 Chevy Monte Carlo survivor. This car is one family owned. It belonged to one brother and then when he died the other brother inherited it who has since passed. So we bought the car through a third party that was handling the estate. This car was in a garage from 2000 to 2017. When we put gas in the carburetor it started right up. We had it towed back to our mechanic and had the brakes checked and they were fine. The front end was fine.
We replaced the gas tank, fuel pump, battery, plugs, wires, cap, oil change and the rear plastic filler piece between the bumper and the body. We rebuilt the original carburetor. We also had a body fix underneath both doors because they were rustproofed by the original owner when it was new. There was no rust, but it didn't look as good as it looks now, since before the rustproofing was mostly black and didn't look right on the car. You can also see the black rustproofing he put underneath the vehicle many many years ago to protect it. That was the same rustproofing that was on the doors.
Mechanically, the car starts, runs and drives no differently than when it was new. This car is equipped with a 350 with automatic, power steering and brakes, tilt wheel, air conditioning, and AM/FM radio. The interior is not faded, it's 100% original, and its still in nearly new condition. The compass that's on the dash is glued, not screwed. So it's up to the new owner if they'd like to take it off or not.
We believe the body to be all original but we are not the original owner and so that's only how it looks (we could be wrong). The vinyl roof is in good condition and we see no bubbles. The motor is all clean, and you can see on the fenders where they put rustproofing on it when it was new and other spots along the engine compartment. The trunk, again, is 100% original. When I pull up the mats on the front and left side, you're looking at the original spackling put on the car in 1974, not a trunk that has ever been touched or redone.
So the bottom line is we are selling a very very very original, clean Monte Carlo with 34K actual miles. We've seen other Monte Carlos online and all the Monte Carlos we've seen for sale have been repainted with faded interiors, holes in the headliner or a bunch of rustproofing underneath covering up rust. Keep in mind, this car here is fresh, clean and a real eye catcher going down the road. We think its a great color combination with the white and red versus a green, tan, or a gray. If you have any questions about the car, feel free to call. It's going to go to the last highest bidder when the sale is over. If you'd like to make me an offer that I can't refuse, that's okay too!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL BIDDERS!
