I have owned this ‘59 Impala since 2008, and have enjoyed it thoroughly.
After driving the car on numerous road trips I decided to do a frame off rotisserie restoration with many upgrades. 4 years later, it’s just wrapped up. This car is sure to win its share of trophies and can be driven anywhere.
PAINT AND BODY: The car’s body was in unbelievable condition for a ‘59. We took the entire car down to bare metal. There floors and trunk are all original with not even a rust bubble found. The only rust found in the entire car was a 3” section around the back glass. This was professionally removed and replaced with new metal. The car was repainted in the correct 1959 Ermine White in a base/ clear. The paint is impeccable! Not so much as even a scuff, ding, or rock chip. Every inch of chrome and stainless is original and replated by one of the best in the business. All new tinted glass was installed. There are a few custom body mods such as smoothing the back up lights and cowl panel. The bottom side of the car is painted and detailed just as nicely as the top. Equipped with bright LED taillights.
INTERIOR: After covering all floors and trunk with Rattle Trap XXX sound deadener, the all leather “Lipstick” interior was hand crafted to include a console that runs from the dash to the custom built package tray. The console incorporates the hidden air and ride controller, front and rear A/C vents, front and rear cup holders, lokar automatic shifter, and an Aux cord for the sound system. The power window switches control all windows including the vent glass. I removed the Impala stainless trim from the bottom half of the dash for a cleaner look. The dash houses Dakota Digital VHX gauges, and utilizes the original dash controls to run the new Vintage heat/ air system. The original A/M radio was modified to power the JL Audio amplifier on/off. The audio system consists of 2 6” door speakers, 2 6x9 rear deck speakers, and a 10” subwoofer on Bluetooth all controlled via your smart phone or I-pod. It Rocks! Don’t miss the custom leather headliner, Lokar pedals, Billet Specialties leather wrapped steering wheel, and the custom built in-dash A/C vents. She is toped off with remote keyless entry that flashes the lights and will blow the horn.
FRAME /SUSPENSION: the original rust free frame was stripped to bare metal and powder coated silver. The car is equipped with front and rear tubular control arms and an electronically controlled 4-wheel air ride system by Airlift Auto Pilot. Oversized front and rear sway bars, and adjustable panhard bar give this Impala a race car feel. 4 wheel slotted and drilled disc brakes bring the machine to a quick halt.
DRIVETRAIN: the custom built LS engine was tuned and dyno’d by DBR Performance, and made over 500 HP (425 to the wheels). Fuel delivery is via Holley EFI rails, intake, and throttle body to give it a bit of an old school carb look. It is still direct port injected. We topped it off with Holley valve covers and a Billet Specialties air cleaner painted to match the body color and smoothed engine bay. Billet Specialties pulley system and P/S reservoir complete the under hood look. Transmission is a completely rebuilt and tuned 4L60 backed up by a Moser Engineering 9” and 3:55 gears. I have found this to be the perfect gear for performance and highway cruising. Wiles Racing Driveshaft built a 3” 1 piece shaft to tie everything together. The ceramic coated Headman Headers tied to a pair of turbo mufflers give this machine a perfect rumble without being too loud.
WHEELS /TIRES: the Impala sits on Billet Specialties Bonneville C series wheels. 20’s in the rear and 18’s up front. The wheels are wrapped in Nitto NT555 red line tires by Diamondback.
IF THE IMPALA DOES NOT SELL ON EBAY THIS WEEK, IT WILL BE CONSIGNED WITH ONE OF THE BIG UPCOMINGCLASSIC CAR AUCTIONS.
