Up for auction is our 66 Corvette 327 Roadster. This car is a very correct and original car throughout. Having been a NCRS member since 1980 and judging mid-year Corvettes for many events, we have a real appreciation for correct Corvettes.
This car retains its original trim tag and decodes as a true 982 code, Mosport Green car. The trim code is 430 being green vinyl. Less 9% of Corvettes in 1966 were Mosport Green and that was a one year only color. The top is a new Al Knock top that is dated correctly for the car. The combination of Mosport green, dark green interior, a white top and Gold line tires is very striking and rare.
All of the numbers on this car are also correct. The engine is the original HE suffix 300 hp 327. The stamp pad is untouched and has never tampered with (all correct numbers in place with the vin#). The 4-speed transmission is also the original with the cars VIN correctly stamped onto the side case. Rear differential is correctly dated to the car and is believed to be the original. Its rare to find a car where the entire drive train is correct and original to that car, but in this case its all original and numbers matching. The odometer reads 59,800 miles and is believed to be actual. Looking throughout the entire car, it truly appears a low mileage car.
The exterior of the car is beautiful. The body and paint work on this car is high quality. All of the body panels are straight and align very good for a roadster. The paint work is base/clear and is highly polished to a mirror finish. All the chrome has been professionally re-chromed and is better than new quality. Stainless, emblems and other brightwork is all in beautiful condition. All the glass in this car is dated original which again, goes with a low mileage car. The hubcaps are show quality restored and the wheels have new BFGoodrich Silvertown Goldline tires. The original jack, jack handle and spare tire/wheel are in place.
The interior is also in beautiful condition. The dash is very original and in spectacular condition. The gauges are crisp and in good working condition along with the original clock, radio and horn. The seats, door panels and carpet are all in great condition and have been replaced due to age. Overall, the interior is very fresh looking and nice. The steering wheel does have one small split towards the top but is the original.
Under the hood is nicely detailed and has a very correct and original look. The undercarriage is also clean and not rusty anywhere. This car is a western car and has never been subject to a corrosive climate. The frame, even towards the rear of the car is very solid and nicely painted. The rear suspension has been rebuilt with new powder coated swing arms, bearings, tie rods and bushings. All four brake calipers and shocks have also been replaced. The exhaust system from the manifolds back is new stainless-steel pipe with correct looking and sounding stainless mufflers with chrome tips through the valance. The engine bay and undercarriage are very presentable and nice, but not too nice to drive and enjoy. This car runs and drives great with strong power, smooth shifting and solid brakes. Mechanically there are NO issues such as major leaks, odd noises or smoke of any kind.
I would rate this Corvette as a super nice driver that will hold its value very well. Its all numbers matching, a rare and desirable color combination, low mileage and restored to a very high…yet use able level. This is a car that is ready to enjoy and currently needs nothing. Take to the show or on a Sunday cruise. I have been a ebay member since 2000 with 100% feedback, so please bid with confidence. Clean and clear Colorado title in my name that is ready to transfer ownership. Questions? Call 303 475-4544
