DescriptionI recently purchased this 1962 Nova Convertible from the estate of a local gentleman who owned the car since 1977.
As you can see by the last PA. inspection sticker on the windshield, this car has been off the road and stored under a tarp in one of his sheds for the past 40 years. The mileage on the speedometer reads 74,616 miles. We pulled it out of hiding and thoroughly washed it inside and out. The old decayed carpeting and mats were removed for you to see the condition of the front, rear and trunk floor pans.
This 1962 Nova is basically complete with the only items missing being the bumper jack, spare tire & hubcaps. This convertible rolls & steers but has no brakes and has not ran in decades. The V-6 Drive line is all original but the motor is locked up. The 2-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly through the gears.
The cars blue body is complete with all of it's sheet metal, trim and glass. The hood, trunk & doors open, close and latch. The clear window glass is all uncracked but the side windows are frozen in the up position and I did not want to break anything by forcing them down.
As you can see by my photos, every piece of body sheet metal has some type of rust issue with some being repairable and the rest needing replacement. The floor pans are original and do have large area's of rust through. The pans under the bucket and rear seat's & tunnel are solid as are the rear wheel tubs.
The Blue & White two tone Vinyl Interior is dried out and cracked but the seat frames & springs are clean and solid. The interior door and rear seat side panels are original. The dashboard, steering wheel & controls including the original radio and heater are in nice condition. I did not receive the keys for the ignition. The folding convertible top assembly is manually operated and folds easily up and down. Both the header and top bows are clean and straight and in excellent, unrusted & undamaged condition.
The trim tag or data plate on the firewall tells us this Nova was built at Willow Run, Michigan on the 3rd week of April, 1962. The paint code 917-3: Twilight Turquoise The Trim Code 722: Aqua & Ivory Vinyl Bucket Seats, Accessories EHL-1 E: Tinted Window Glass, H: Padded Dash, L1: White Convertible Top. And as before-mentioned, the other accessories on the car are: Power Steering & Brakes, Posi-Traction Rear End.
The sub-frame's and front & rear suspension appears to be undamaged showing no signs of previous repair or welding, however they do have surface rust.
This Nova Convertible with it's factory bucket seats and desirable color combination will make a wonderful restoration project or professionally convert your coupe into a convertible. It will also make a great start for a Resto Mod or Custom Car.
