Correction or Update:
This '57 Motor is stated as the "Original Motor" and there is quite the controversy on the actual "Numbers". This is what we know for sure. It is a Late 1956 date coded motor, installed in a early production 1957 Nomadout of Oakland, California GM plant. Everything is dated late 1956, November '56 and December '56, theengine, the transmission, and the rear end, even the radiator is K '56.
Showing K and L codes of 1956. The Engine reads: F56A there is no "A" code for '56 or '57 that have a single "A" code. (Note: the only code in '57 for A/C with a "A" code is an "FA" code forAir Conditioning) The manifold is L 6 6 which is Dec. 6, 56 which means it is a '57 production run with a 4 Barrel Carb. One correction is: Thatthis motoris NOT a Power-Pac Diamond Heads motor. It is a 205 HP 4 Barrel 283 V8 we are calling it after further research. That is a very uncommon combination, and most all the 283's with4 Barrels were the 220 HP Power-Pacs.
So there you have it, Rare it is optioned, and Rarer yet, is the Mystery Motor configuration. Please understand thismotor is a authentic GM motor, but some have said, it is a "very controversial numbers combination". Note: in seeing and researching hundreds of the best & rarest Chevrolets in the world for 35 years, GMhas beenknown for early year production holdovers and number mix-ups /back in these days where stamps trim tags and motors and even Vin tags got the wrong codes for body styles etc. So we have clearly stated "as we know" "what we know", to be 100% honest about the car.
So if you "don't agree" with this information, don't bid, but please know this, it's a GREATRARE 57,no matter what the numbers say.Thank you!
